Hey everyone, I am on a fixed budget and ive read alot in the forums and heard alot about bamachips, is this the way to go? I was thinking about getting a BBK CAI because it dosent require a tune, but if in fact I were to go for the bamachips combo tuner + cai which should I buy for the best bang for my buck. Also, which 3 custom tunes would you suggest? All I currently have performance wise is my exhaust, dual cat back magnaflow custom built. Has anyone else gone the BBK way and been happy or is saving up and going the bamachips combo way much better? thanks for any help.

In my opinion, a CAI that doesnt require a tune is useless. Yes the computer can self adjust but only by so much. A wouldnt be surprised if a K&N drop in filter gives you same gains as the BBK. Also i have seen several threads where people have had problems with their bbk cai. Save up for a cai tuner combo. It is safer and provides much better results.
There is also brenspeed and tilman. But from bama the 3 to get are an 87 octane tune (just in case 92 isnt available), 92 torque and race.
Remember: Never run a car with a cai without a proper tune, and never drive with a lower octane gas that your cars is tuner for.

Tilmans will bendover backwards to help tweak your tunes if need be
+1, i`ll second that too. i went with the jlt/sctx3/tunes combo from tillmans and i dont think i could be any happier with the performance.( well i could if we had 93 octane around here but i dont) i went with the 87 performance, 91 performance, and 91 street race tune( this is the one i run full time) call chris rose at tillmans 610-497-5776 and get a price. heres a pic of a really cool V6 stang with the jlt installed

How does the race tune from tillman compare with bama?

i have a 91 race tune from bama also. (doug is a great guy and very helpfull and so is chris rose). i ran it for a while and it does run good, and has a good hard shift. however, chris rose spent some time on my shift pattern( shifts fast without over harshness) and i think his tune runs better, so thats what ive been running. now without dyno results or track times( which i hope to do in the near future) i cant really say for sure. for just email tunes they both run good, but tillman helps keep this site going always good to support the companys that support us.( no offense bamachips)

any one else prefer tillmans over bama? I think I might go with the tillmans tunes, 91 octane is the same as premium right? or is it mid grade
I think they say it is premium. Around here it is 87 89 93 (I think... I don't remember I used 93 for a year now so...) But get the octane that is around you.

yes, the 2 grades of premium are 91 and 93. we dont have 93 around these parts so i had to go 91. 89 is a midrange fuel, but the tillman 87 performance tune will run with 87 or 89.

I went with the BBK CAI and am actually happy with it. The only gripe I had was with my cruise control when going up slight hills. I guess because of the fact that the sound of the engine is much more noticeable, but other than that. I'm not really disappointed. It definitely gave my car a slight get up and go. Better response. BUT I do have a SCT X3 coming my way just to see if I'll actually get better performance with a tune. It should be showing up tomorrow.
When I talked with someone at Americanmuscle.com, he said that yes, the BBK CAI does not require a tune, but it would probably be best if I tuned it. Of course, he might of just been trying to get me to buy a tuner.
