Hey, I bought my 2005 about a month and a half ago and can't keep myself off this site lol so I finally decided to join.
I have been looking at the Ford Racing Performance Parts power upgrade package which includes a CAI, tuner, and a dual exhaust system with mufflers from the stock bullitts and an X-pipe. I have heard the exhaust and I like it a lot but I'm worried about the tune.
Everyone on here talks big about bamachips so I checked them out and you can custom order tunes for performace/racing/torque at different octanes. I checked out the tuner that comes with the FRPP set and its just adjusting octane levels and rear end gear ratios....
Does anyone have this full set up or know anything about this tune before I buy it? I am getting a discount through my local Ford store so that is partially why I'm choosing this package but if the CAI/tuner is not going to give me the throttle response that I want I might pay the bigger dollar for a better tune...
If you have ANY input on this I would love to hear it, thanks!
1000 bucks for some GT mufflers, x pipe and a cold air intake?
stay away from that. you can buy a CAI/tuner combo for 500 ish with a custom tune from bama chips.
and you can buy a dual exhaust conversion kit from american muscle for a couple hundred. you will be paying just about the same, if not less, for a lot more.
a bama tune will be a huge upgrade from the ford thing they will give you. more power for less coin!

I do not know about the FRPP CAI/Tuner package but I would definitely go with the American Muscle JLT CAI/SCT SF3 package. It's just over $500 which is a really good deal.
That package took .8 seconds off my 0-60. If I had better tires it would definitely be a full second.
So with almost a full second off my 0-60 with just a simple, inexpensive performance upgrade... I HIGHLY suggest the tuner package from american muscle.
I am running off of their free custom perfomance tune which I hear doesn't even compare to the bamachips tunes. So I say don't go with the Ford Racing package

I would like to keep it under $1,000... the American Muscle CAI/TUNE combo is $500. I would liek to convert to dual exhaust and get a good sound that I like. Anybody find any dual exhaust conversion kits under $500? I'm trying to avoid the Pypes brand... I haven't heard good things from them. What about plain GT take off's with an H-pipe?
if your looking for cheap, buy a pair of GT take off exhaust (about 100 after shipping) Mustang Take-Off Brakes
then go find an exhaust shop. ask around with people who have nice cars for a good shop. i took 2 mufflers to a shop and they got me an x pipe (or h not sure lol. sorry kinda newbish of me), and build the dual system for 275 (they also cut the bunmper for me. took them like 1 minute and looks really good. imma do a write up on the exhaust i got soon so keep your eyes open if you wanna see the pics.) go ahead and message amustangrocks. i know he has that done.
so if you did the GT take off exhaust, that will cost about 350-400
bamachips C&L CAI+ Tune package costs about 635 after shipping. puts you at about 1000 for a way better gain than the FRPP pack.
also, later on, after saving money, you can buy axle backs (if you want a louder sound) and have a shop put them on for about 50 to 80 dollars for both.

theres no point in spending 1000 dollars for a FRPP kit that will basically do nothing, maybe give you 10 rwhp at best
first thing first. buy a tuner and a CAI, i chose JLT, and i love it, its about 550 total from american muscle, you will NOT be dissapointed. AM will also write you a custom tune for your car. and you can easily be looking at about 15 RWHP just from that, with another 7-10 RWHP if you went with a bama/tillman/brenspeed tune
next, about the exhaust, heres what you can do, just buy some mufflers from american muscle or wherever. for example, take flowmaster AT's 329.99
so thats 529.99 for the tuner/cai and 329.99 for the mufflers throw in the 6 percent forums discount and you're looking at 808.38 for all that.
now what you do is take those flowmasters, go to a local exhaust shop and have them fabricate you a mid pipe back from the cats. a shop did mine for 160 including labor, you should have no problem finding a shop to do it for 200
and p.s. dont be afraid of pypes violators, they sound great, take a listen
