this can be helpfull its about installing hangars but it also includes pics on the end result if the V6 bumper is cut to make a dual exhaust fit, on how a Y pipe can be Cut and made into an H pipe.
its for a 99 to 03 mustang but i figure they should be pretty much similar. http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/pipes.htm

Reason: forgot the link..
Has anyone heard the SLP powerflo's IRL? Youtube scares me lol. The advertisement on there is for a single axle-back system. Sounds pretty good. $260 for a muffler is kind of upsetting... I just don't want to deal with the hassle of converting to dual when I will replace the car when I graduate. Let me know if anyone has any input on that.

I'm more than certain this has been asked in several places, but I'm going to ask anyway....
Just picked up a new '09 V6 a few weeks back (traded in my '05). I had just snagged a pair of GT takeoffs when I bought my new Pony.
The dreaded question now is - if I go ahead and swap my new stock muffler for the RH GT muffler, do I void the factory warranty? I've heard and read opinions all over the place. I actually have the H-pipe for the takeoffs as well, but I figured I wouldn't tempt fate by installing that too.
I haven't been following things for awhile now due to a myriad of personal things going on. I've put off switching to duals for some time now, the car just got love tapped in the rear so it's time for a new bumper and to put that left side GT takeoff to use. So I'm starting from little to no recollection of the things I used to know, if I'm out of line with the following, kick me, but hopefully others might benefit from it.
Is the driver side GT midpipe the same diameter as the stock V6 pipe? I'm a jackass...the midpipes on the GT and V6 are the same - 2.5. The difference is the pipe before the Y on the V6 (2.25) and the H on the GT (2.5)
From the things I can piece together to do this on my own I'd need the X pipe (or H), the midpipe, 2 hangers, clamps.
i upgraded my 2005 V6 from stock to AT flowmaster, i liked it alot, though it doesnt sounds mmeaner than V8's and mac, my only complain is my MPG, twas down from 16 to 12 city driving. maybe my right foot should be blamed for loving the noise and drone of this muffler.

Odd, because technically, with a free flow exhaust, your MPG should have risen a notch - probably the right foot to blame

Quote: Custom Pipes-here is another option that is gaining popularity. with this option you can just go to a local exhaust shop and ask them to either make you an X or an H pipe, or do what i did and have them cut your factory Y pipe, and just run two seperate straight pipes back to your mufflers. you can usually find a shop to do this, including installation of mufflers for around 200, if not under 200.
I have this exact set-up, but im not sure if its helpful or harmful, as i have yet to do a dyno test. One thing ive notice, is that when its at idle, the exhaust comes out in sort of a "puff puff puff"
,, so is this normal ? and there is a bit of a rasp, which i hATE . Im running magnaflows, and it isnt that loud, but it has a low rumble to it. I wonder if i get more of a louder tone with diffrent mufflers, of high flow cats ?

im not really a fan of magnaflows, but thats just me.
the puff puff puff is just each individual cylinder firing, completely normal. different mufflers yield different tones and volumes. high flow cats will make it louder, but possible more rasp

Does a real X pipe add a few more horses? I heard just about 1-2 hp, which doesn't sound like it would be worth it.
yeah, its only a few, maybe 5 max, i would personally take the sound upgrade of the H and ditch the X, but a lot of other guys swear by the X

maybe it wasn't the most economically wise choice, but the FRPP FR1 kit, which has a CAI, True dual w/ x pipe and Fr500 mufflers looks great and sounds great. Minor drone at 1800 rpm. But for $1200 if you get it dealer installed, you can add about 15 hp and lb/ft tq WHILE keeping your warranty (for you people wondering about warrantys, look up the magnusson moss act, and maybe talk with your local dealer. Anyways, loving the Ford racing parts.
