Quick question from a total dolt here. If I order a magnaflow cut and clamp X pipe and get a set of take off stock GT muffles what else do I need to complete the system?

you are gonna need some driver side hangers for that muffler.

i got them off ebay. they are a gereric stainless steel header. ive got over 10k on them so far and have not had any issues with them. i got mine from eworld1 for 114.00 shipped but there are a bunch of vendors that have the same thing on there. they are usually priced a little higher, but i got mine on a bid deal. watch it if you go looking, some places have a better price then charge alot for shipping, some places have free shipping. its part of the ebay game. heres one for 79.00 but they want 32.00 for shipping which should be against the law.
Ford Mustang 4.0 V6 05 06 07 08 09 STEEL EXHAUST HEADER:eBay Motors (item 350258996651 end time Oct-06-09 15:06:23 PDT)

you can search ebay for mustang 4.0 headers and find all sorts of ads. i`m not saying they are as good as say jba 400.00 headers, i just didnt want to spend that much and i`m happy with these. there are a few guys on here with them and i havent seen any problem posts on them. i did splurge on the jba stainless h pipe,,and then went with the gt takeoff mufflers. i`m real happy with my exaust system.

getting an intake is not necessary if you get new exhaust, the mustang exhaust is very constrictive in stock form anyway.

a CAI will really only effect your exhaust in its tone

read the thread....

GT takeoff mufflers with custom duals should be your cheapest dual route. get some GT muffs for 50 bucks, then take em to a shop and tell em to make some custom pipes for you and hang the mufflers. altogether it shouldnt cost you more than 300 bucks

Default Borla's web claims

Great thread guys. I am pretty sure (or was) I'm not going to go duel, but Borla calims 15 horse on a 4.V6 Just with their cat back duel set up. Seems a little high, Ok very high. Any thoughts. BTW, they have wave files on their web page. They sound awesome. A buddy of mine tipped me off to the website. So what do you think about thier claim?

Borla Performance Industries - Products

Thanks Randy

by a rule of thumb you always take bolt on mod claims of horsepwer and divide it by 2. you shuold expect to see 7-10 RWHP increase with a new muffler, or catback system.

Hello, this thread is awesome, im glad to have come across it.. i've got a 08 v6 and i already put a single axleback borla muffler then installed the AFE Stage 2 Cold Air Intake Kit from americanmuscle... it sounds pretty good but i want to convert to dual exhaust and go louder.

-So i was thinking a custom h pipe but not sure, are they pretty good? reliable? cuz i dont want to buy a kit if only for a H pipe and clamps then replacing the mufflers with slps..

and..

-GT SLP axlebacks, i was planing to have them cut a slot for the driver side muffler (but like Silverbullet07 said it may be illegal in some states) so i gotta check Arizona law emissions.. if not SLPs then Mac axle backs, found some vids on utube and those sound nice but again i agree its all about the camera for most vids, setup, position, ect..

-Mayyybe Longtube headers, for the extra hp and deeper exhaust sound, but im undecided with that cuz the SLPs will be loud as it is lol..

Oh, and if i do get a custom H pipe, Where can i get the clamps and stuff? (Exhaust shop? auto store?) will i be needing "hangers" as well?

I was thinking about getting having professionals installing it too.. so would any1 suggest get it done at an exhaust shop? or just a shop that is able to do it? cuz i was thinkn' the exhaust shop people would have more experience and know what they'r doing/talkn about but may be over priced.. i gotta look into that too!

I'd say it depends on what you really want.

As for parts, I'd say check out Jegs, they have clamps, hangars, piping, you can get your Custom H through them, its like 50 dollars.

As for a shop, it depends on many things, work involved, experience, time, money, etc.

If you have a garage at home, and just want to add some mufflers, or maybe even a whole system, you can do it with just jackstands.

If you need welding, then I would advise a friend, or just go to the shop.

Exhaust work is some of the easiest work you can do in my opinion, just have to decide what you want(which is the real hard part) then a little patience goes a long way

And kudos on the SLP, if you get em.
I had them, no cats, and got plenty of complaints, citations, and a few tickets, so I took them off, but they were nice when I had them.

if you were to buy an h pipe from someone like american muscle, then it would come with clamps and hangars. if you can weld and stuff, then you can do it yourself, and you could most likely get your piping from either an exhaust shop, or some other auto store. if you had an exhaust shop hook you up, they would supply all of the piping and the labor, you just supply the mufflers.

I have a pypes mid muffler dual exhaust and i think it sounds pretty good as it is but i was thinking of swaping in some high flow cats and shorty headers to finish it off. will those make good enough difference in power or sound??? in your opinion would it be worth it??
thanks guys

The dreaded question now is - if I go ahead and swap my new stock muffler for the RH GT muffler, do I void the factory warranty? I've heard and read opinions all over the place. I actually have the H-pipe for the takeoffs as well, but I figured I wouldn't tempt fate by installing that too.

Thanks as always.
Will not void factory warranty..... I've got a 08 V6 Coupe with a GT500 Muffler, warranty approved still.
