Well as some of you may know, my hood is no longer functional so today i went and picked up a new hood: I already cannot remember what it is called but I attached a pic of one! Anyways it is the ram-air hood and it has the square cutout on the bottom side that sits above the air box on my car and I just need to know how to make that functional>> Would I just cut a square hole in the top of my airbox or do I need to buy some more stuff? Just let me know. Thanks!

Do you have a stock air intake?
By the way that is one sexy hood. From a shelby?

Good point I forget that the filter is down in there. Yes it is stock intake. So.... what would I have to do? Buy a new cold air intake kit and tuner? Are there any other options?
I would get the CAI and tuner just for the added bonus, but there are other options. I'm not sure what brand that hood is, but several different companies make a kit like this one for their own hoods.
To be honest, a functional ram air is not going to do any more than a CAI.
???
A CAI does a TON more than functional ram air lol.
Ram air doesn't actually do a LOT, but it isn't a bad thing... It'll get more fresh air under the hood. You won't benefit so much from that though because the factory box draws air in though the fenderwell area.
If anything, a way to get more heat out of the engine bay will benefit you more.

No I mean a real ram air intake, not a hole in a hood. And correct me if I am wrong but doesn't ram air works better with laminar flow?

I dont think removing the top of the box will screw anything up,isnt the filter laying flat inside the box with the top covering it? So removing the top and having air enter from the underside of the hood, the hood now becomes the top of the box, understand?
I have a similar hood ,but from tru fiber, and the Xcharger air filter is right there. Doesnt screw up the airflow either.
without going out and looking I'd say the opening under the hood is 6"-8" square and so airflow wont be a problem. Just securing the filter to the inside of the box will be a concern. Soft rubber padding around the "ram air" opening might keep the filter in place and I dont think it,the filter ,will move much anyways.

Well for one there is a small square opening, about 4x4 inches at the bottom of the box. Then sits the filter then the inlet to the hose that leads to the throttle body. Cutting a hole on top would by pass the filter all together and create an opining that is larger than what the car is designed for.

+1 draws air from the bottom. bringing some more air into the area wont hurt, but it wont really help for any performance gains.

originally i was planning to get the same exact hood the cut outs are acual cutouts dont remember if the air is directed to the air box some do but, if i remember correctly i believe it just goes straight into the engine bay cooling the motor also hense the functional heat extractors, good hood though just dont have the money . and its called the gts v.1 hood
