Hey Everyone,

So my 2007 mustange (4.0 V6) is at about 52,000 miles and has started up with a humming sound in the last week. The humming is coming from the motor, it comes and goes at any speed but is most noticeable during start ups. When driving none of the following helps reduce the sound: speeding up, slowing down, turning off the a/c & radio. Also, performance does not appear to be suffering, but the being that it's a strange noise I'd like to take care of this before anything else happens. I might add that maintenance has been good: oil changes at every 3000, etc. Any help on how to track and fix the source(s) of the noise would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the site. Sounds like a bearing. Take a 2 to 3 foot piece of hose once the whining starts. Put one end to your ear and move the other end to different engine parts until you narrow it down.
