Default Is this a good deal for CAI?

This BBk CAI claims 20 rwhp and 20 rwtq with the factory tuner and no additional tuning required. It is also only $200. Check it out tell me what you think.

I don't buy it. A tune and a CAI that requires a tune gives you 25-30. A tuneless cai basically forces the car to run always as if it is cold and you are at sea level.

But if you decide to get the BBK, check out American Muscle.

It's a decent intake but nowhere close to 20 rwhp without a tune.

I would save up and get a cai/tune combo. That product will probably only net you around 7 rwhp at most.

Thanks i will either get that or the K&N at americanmuscle.com. Im not getting a tuner I do not want one I want the most horsepower possible without a tuner. The K&N is $300 the BBK $200 is there a diffrence in the power you will get from them?

Again I do not want a tuner right now I dont need to save up for it I have the cash I just dont know much about them yet and it seems like to much can go wrong. Thanks for reccomending what you think would be best for my vehicle and im sure a tune CAI combo porbally is but Ijust bought my car 3 weeks ago and I dont know much about tuners yet. I just want to buy performance parts that will give me the most power without a tune.

CAI, Headers, Throttle body, I have ford racing dual exhaust if I add these 3 things how much more horsepower can I expect without a tune.

Thanks again I love this site ive leaned so much I never knew anything about cars but now its addicting I really want to learn.

the more mods you do the more your gonna need to get a tuner i got the bbk cai then i got magnaflow exhaust and threw codes left and right

your computer in your car is going to notice the increase in air flow and will throw codes even if bbk or anyone else says that it wont
bbk only tested the cai with a stock mustang

this is a notice i got from the bbk install tech guide its from there web site at the bottom of the page

SPECIAL NOTE
Due to the increased airflow and performance gains associated with this product, a slight detonation or lean condition may
occur if used with low octane fuels (Regular). If this happens we recommend switching to a fuel with a higher octane rating
(Premium, or Super).
In addition, if you are installing this product on a vehicle that has been previously modified or has a "tune" other than stock,
you may find it necessary to have the tune adjusted or modified to accommodate for the increase in airflow that this product
provides.

I don't think you'll see much difference between K&N and BBK. As for the gains, You probably freed up 8-10rwhp from the exhaust and you might gain 8rqhp from the CAI for a grand total of 16-18rwhp. The throttle body and headers will do nothing, at least close to it.

Basically what I said before, because the no-tune CAI's run on the brink of what the car is designed to safely run on. And the K&N will do the same thing.

IMO i say go with bbk since you do not want a tuner at this time and it says you do not NEED a tune rather than going with a CAI that says you do require a tune, however later on I would def. get a tuner, this is what i did i bought the bbk and a couple weeks later bought the tuner and i had no problems. you will just get the most out of it when you do buy a tuner plus comes in handy if you are going to continue to mod your mustang. PS. tuners are not really hard to understand check out some of the forums on here and read up on them.

The K&N also says it does not require a tune. I am starting to learn more about the tuners there are some good tutorials on youtube about them. Im just scared of really screwing my car up and i just got it. In a couple years i wont care as much.

Thanks for all the info guys.

after i put on my exhaust my check engine light came on i took my car to auto zone to see what the code was for the check engine light and it was 4 codes total and they all related to having a lean air to fuel ratio

so the more you mod the more you run the risk of having your check engine light come on
