Default Another CAI thread sorry

I know I have started alot of threads about this but my threads keep going on to other subjects mostly about tuners. I have totally decided against a tuner I didnt know about how much horsepower my car had when I bought it and didnt know the diffrence between a v8 and v6 power wise. I am now starting to research and learn and I think I will trade my car in about 1-2 years for a v8 or whatever horsepwer I can afford at that time. What I wanted to know is. Is it worth installing a CAI into my v6 right now w/out a tune or will I be wasting my money? Will it give me any noticable power or sound? It does look good under the hood but I dont want to buy it if its not going to give me much power and I have heard from some of the members here that it can hurt my vehicle w/out a tune even though they advertise it does not need a tune.

So whats your opinion save my cash? Or install the CAI on my v6 now?

Once again im not getting a tuner Thanks everyone

Seeing how you are so set against a tuner, I would pass on the CAI. You have dual exhaust, and the CAI can cause the car to throw trouble codes, codes that a tuner can fix. It says no tune needed on a stock car, you car is no longer stock. Now I am not making a guarantee that you are going to get codes, but it is a high possibility. Unless you are quite a bit above sea level and it is hot, then chances are you will not get the codes. And people claim that they are getting huge improvements, and although they might feel that, that is not the case. It is the same when people put the spacer and claim to get gains. They feel it cause they did something. And as I explained in your other thread, the gains you will see is similar to driving at sea level in the winter.
And this is just my opinion, but I would not install anything that changes the fuel to air ratio on the car without making sure it is programmed for it. But that is just me. It is similar, to me, when people try to find the cheapest parts to put on their new car.

So, incase you missed it, I'd forgo on the CAI and look into other mods. An aluminum driveshaft, screamin' demon coil and wires (05Horse really likes them)... the only things that comes to mind right now that do no require a tune.

Oh and maybe work on handling? Gt-take off anti-sway bars are great if you do not have the pony package, which I think you do not.

if your lookin to get more power your going to have to get a tuner but even if you get the cai no matter what the manufacture says there is no guarantee that your car will not throw codes with a CAI that does not require a tune

Thanks for the responses I am thinking now I should pass on it. I love how it looks under the hood but I dont want to throw any codes and it gets pretty cold here -8 last year in the winter.

What does an aluminum driveshaft, screamin' demon coil and wires do? Link to them?

The driveshaft is a lot lighter and stronger than stock. You risk braking the driveshaft at speeds around 120. But now that I think about it, you can skip this. There is a speed limiter on the stang set at 113. And I don't think your stock wheels are rated that high anyway. But the driveshaft, because it is lighter, allows you to get your RPM's faster.

The coil and wires provide a longer hotter spark which allows the fuel to burn better. Which results in better mpg and acceleration responce. Contact 05Horse, he knows more about it.
