Default sct x3 flash tuner

ok i just want to play it safe and ask a couple questions before I go playing wiht this thing, I just got my X3 flash tuner from bamachips with three custom tunes on it and i put in the disk it came with and was trying to read the manual but all i want to know is do I have to plug this into my computer and download new software or anything before I tune my car or can I just hook it right up to my mustang and follow the on screen instuctions and if I do have to update it and so on how do i do it? and is there anything I should worry about or know about before I do this or is it pretty safe and should I just go for it? I just dont want to miss something or do something wrong.

i just hooked mine in and went, worked for me

if its a new SCT tuner it should have latest software on it unless it sat around for a few months or bought it used

ok thanks I just uploaded the tunes everything went fine. Now what if i changed between the tunes, right now i have a 89 performance running but what if i wanted to chang to a 93 race tune do i have to run it to nearly empty and then fill it with 93 octance and then change it and would it be ok running 93 octane with my 87 perf. till i got home from the gas station to change it?

I switch from 87 to 91 with about 3 gal of 87 left in the tank.
I did not hear any pinging. So it must have been withing the ability of the computer to compensate. But 87 to 93, I don't now. Maybe run a couple tanks of 93 through then re flash.

you can plug the tuner into your car and read the error code. i never had the wrench come on, ive had the engine light a few times.( for running rich) bamas tune shouldnt loose any power, if anything it should shift too hard, and very responsive.
on the fuel, just run it down pretty low and fill it up with 93. you`ll be ok to run it home and load the 93 tune.

call doug and have him straighten it out in the tunes. he`ll have to email you the revised tunes, so now youll have to go on the sct site and download the "live load update" onto your computer.( put it on your desktop). when you hit the icon it will load the actual program. then your gonna need a printer cable to plug your tuner into a usb port to load the email tunes onto the tuner.

i cant say. doug should have the answer though. ya, sometimes its a bit of a hassle till its all straightened out. but in the end, you will be happy. my x3 had sat around a bit before i got it, worked great to begin with then one day i got a error message. had to call and get a sct tech to log into my computer and fix a couple things. but those guys are awesome, had it fixed up pretty fast and havent had any problems since.
