What is teh max nitrous shot without serious lower end mods?
Had a discussion with a buddy concernign nitrous systems. I am wondering what the highest shot I could put on a stock engine without having to beef up the lower end?
Later,

i wouldnt go any higher than 75. although you could probably get away with 100 shot as long as you dont abuse it....

That is a difficult question to answer and anyone trying to give a answer is just guessing at best. It has to do with several things being mileage on motor, condition of motor, and if it has been taken care of or beat to s*@t. On a new motor not beefed up i would say 75-100hp shot not on a motor turning 170k miles. Not saying that yours has that just giving a example. Hope this gives you a idea.
The 4.0 responds differently to n20 than the 4.6 does. Both apparently have hypereutectic pistons which i've heard is the main failure point in both motors when n20 is the cause.
Personally I wouldn't spray at all, but i've heard that 75 is the highest you can go safely, if n20 can be considered safe for your engine on any level.

Yes you get a tune to take timeing out and adjust air fel with the jets. Do some more research on nitrous you find it's not all that bad when used correctly. and the main part that fails is the rods there very weak.
