Default Last gear thread I promise 3.73 or 4.10

I am going to get gears but what I want to know is 3.73 better or 4.10? I have an automatic and I seldom do any highway driving. What gears should I get and what advantages do each havee? Also when I get the gears what diffrence in driving can I expect or in sound? Will my vehicle just take off faster from a stop is that the main advantag fro gears or is it something else? What are the chances of my car poping out when I get new gears or should it be fine? I am getting the whole kit tloc berings everything that comes with the ford racing gear kit and stangmods.com.

It's all personal preference... Read more below...

In this case, because you do little highway driving, 4.10s will be your best choice.

Get the 4.10s because they have the fastest "pickup". You'll have better acceleration with 4.10s.

3.73s are a good "midway" gear that'll give a little better highway mileage, but won't be as quick as 4.10s.

Difference in driving... Much quicker acceleration!
Difference in sound... You'll hear your exhaust a little quicker & you may hear some spinning tires too!

???
You're car will not "pop out"????

Don't worry about any issues with a gear install lolol! Just listen for any whining from the gears.

Thaks for the info Preston i am more confident in them now. I meant to ask if my car would poop out not pop out lol.

Any ides what thew install will cost I hear the install would be more than the gear set themselves and the set is close to $550.

Lol...

Nah, your car will be totally fine. Just take it easy for up too 500 miles after your install.
People say don't accelerate hard or go over 65 mph until 500 miles... But I've had friends doing burnouts the day of the install!

So my advice to you is this: No burnouts or really hard launches for around 200 miles after the install minimum. Try and keep it under 75 for that time as well.

The better you take care of your gears right after install, the better chance you'll have of them being perfect!

Install for all that shouldn't be more than $300-$400... Find a good shop that'll be in the low $300 range... That's all it should cost!

As long as its 1k or less it wont be to bad. I will have the dealer do it. They charge $75 an hour labor and thats all I should have to pay for because I will have all the parts.

Im going to Vegas september 23rd I will have to see how that goes before I buy the gears if I buy them now my wife wont let me gamble like I want to lol.
