now lets just say we are talking a basic stock gt what will it take for my v6 to beat it? I have duels, CAI and a93 bama race tune. and i am also planning on getting 4.10 gears and a t-lok very soon
I would say with what you already have, if you added the gears and t lock, underdrive pulleys, longtubes, the Screamin Deamon coil and wires, an aluminum driveshaft, a lightweight flywheel and stage two or three clutch and got your tune to accomidate all the mods you would probably be close to a bone stock gt with 3.31 gears.
The stock gt puts around 275 to the ground, the v6 bout 185 (from what I have seen). All those mods should have you somewhere close to 250 on the ground. Factor in the steeper gears and you weigh 200 lbs less. That should be pretty close.
Now the nitrous/supercharger/turbo would for sure do it, but keep in mind you could also help yourself by weight reduction like a rear seat delete, taking out the spare tire and jack when you race, lightweight seats etc.
I think with all the possible bolt ons on the market and some gears and weight reduction you could be competing with them if not slightly at an advantage.
I also forgot to mention that the stage2+ heads from supersixmotorsports advertise a 50 hp and 50 ft.lb. gain, the stage 3 along with the cam are closer to 75 I believe. That would also help.

With 4.10s and what you have you will have a decent chance in the 1/8th, but in the 1/4th you will be passed. To really be more powerful, you will need some sort of f/i.

How much would it cost on average to get the Screamin Deamon coil and wires and the aluminum driveshaft installed at a shop?
The coil and wires will be a little over two hundred. The driveshaft, mine was about five hundred. Honestly I had no experience at all installing them and I did both of those. The driveshaft is just 8 bolts. No aligning or anything. The coil is just make a map of which wire goes where, take all of them loose and put the new coil on then re attach the wires. To have a shop do both it is probably an hour and a half labor so around 100-150 dollars. But the installs are both easy.

if you want you can avoid FI but it will end up costing you about the same in the end.
Cams, Heads, longtube headers. about 70 hp right there. add a tune aluminum drive shaft and under drive pullies and your at about 100 above stock. you car will sound great and you dont have to worry about killing your car sooner than you want. then down the line if you ever want FI your gains will be a lot higher. also if you upgrade the pistons you'll improve the life of your engine even more.
but remember youll spend a pretty penny for this.
i would estimate about close to five thousand. maybe a little more. FI would cost you close to 10 grand to do it properly and keep your engine life long. heck for 15 grand buy a GT and de-badge it. but if you love your sixer go for it

thanks alot guys, this really helps. The thing is i have been going back and forth on: weather to keep my v6 and add alot to it and make it better that a gt or to just trade in at one point down the road and buy a gt and add to that instead? now if someone asked me that I would say buy a gt and work with that but i dont want to have to pay the insurance for a gt thats why im thinking about upgrading my v6 towards a gt so that i have a gt car but still pay for a v6 insurance, but i still dont know what to do? i just dont want to go adding alot to it if i am going to trade it in at one point
