I took off my 16" stockers for 18" GT500 takeoffs...and they rub. the front tires are pretty much flush with the wheel too, 255's on a 9.5 inch wheel. What can i do to solve this? a friend suggested beating the crap out of the fenderwell with a mallet but it looks like I need to go at least a half inch on the left, and maybe a quarter on the right. do i need to add on to my suspension? they only rub when you turn the wheel ALL the way, but it still sucks.
and is this bad for my tires? it doesnt seem to be damaging them but i dont know about what will happen in the long run.
beating on the inside plastic fender well will not do anything. if thats whats it rubbing on, though it will sound really bad inside the car, its not gonna cause much damage.i think you can get stops for the turning radius or spacer plates to move them out a little.

ive been loooking for the stops, cant find them. i thought of spacers but theyre crazy expensive for such a small alteration. i dont understand why they rub though, the car isn't lowered. are the fenderwells/ turning radius different on GT500s or GT's with 18" wheels? 255s are not exactly wide tires.
ok. figured it out. cars with 17" or larger rims come with part 4R3Z-3932-BA, steering stops, already installed. My car came with the 16" rims, so id need to install them to stop the rub, which will cost a pretty penny so i guess i just wont be turning the steering wheel so far lol.
6R3Z-3932-CA 18" Steering Stops = $15+ each from the dealer (2) Steering Stops - as recommended by Ford when upgrading from 16" or 17" to an 18" wheel.

I went to my dealership to get a quote on installing them just now, and they wont do it! they said its a modification and told me to go to a speed shop lol
I also got a quote on reprogramming the TPMS sensors for the new wheels. $110!!! so i guess ill just buy the transmitter tool from AM and do it myself

go to discount tire, they'll do it for free if they have the tool. we got it less than a week ago so no promises on whether they'll have it.
