OK, so I REALLY want a turbocharger. However, I'm considering ALL the costs, not just for the initial price, but the total cost in the long run. Basically, my current engine has 43k miles on her, and with a turbo running 8 psi I'd have to replace/rebuild it at 180k or so, give or take a few thousand miles. Taking my job's traveling into account, that'll be in about 5-6 years (I'll average about 24k/year).
This is why I need to know how much it would be to replace or rebuild the 4.0 v6, plus labor. What would be wiser, replacing or rebuilding? By that I mean a function of cost and benefits.
And what else will have to be replaced by then?
This is my first car, and I love her dearly, but before I go spending 5k+ I need to know the total picture, and if this is really worth it. I mean, it might be better to just do basic bolt-on stuff and then trade it in by then. But even so, trade in value will be low either way by that time...
