I think you are probably right. I am used to driving smaller 4 cylinder cars. I have had a CRX and 2 Integras. Our other car is a Ford Freestyle.
When I drive the Mustang on long trips it is louder than I am used to. But around town driving the volume does not bother me. I like to roll down the windows and stomp on it driving under overpasses. Great sound!!!. I just thought that if I added a resonator it would quiet it down on long trips. I usually drive around 75 mph which is right at that 2300 rpm rate. If I cut it back it is not that bad. Was wondering if I might try to add more sound dampening in the trunk.
maybe try a GT take off. They can be found for cheep and are a little quieter. Check to be sure no part of the muffler or tip is touching the body outside of the hangers. And check that the hanger has the rubber grommet so you not just hanging metal to metal.

Sorry, I'm having a real hard time believing it's a FRPP muffler thats doing it. There are so many of us in this forum as well as all the other forums that run it, no one is having issues with them (that I have ever seen). It's the setup that everyone goes to (beside GT take-off) to eliminate the drone. Maybe something is loose, you got the lowering kit, maybe it's hitting the axle, dunno. Sure way to prove it is to toss the stock muffler back on and go for a run, only a 15 minute job.
My FRPP GTB kit does drone at 1500rpm which is equal to 80km/h. Other than that, no drone. Is that normal?
I'm going to take the car in and make sure the muffler was installed properly. I had it installed at a body shop after my car was rearended. It could be that there is something with the installation.
