FRPP Muffler Drone. Will Resonators Help? Need Recommendation
I have been driving with the FRPP muffler for the past year. Love the sound when I excellerate and at idel, but at cruising speed the drone gets to be a bit much on long trips. Will resonators help relieve this and does anyone have any recommendation on a brand that will work well with the FRPP muffler?

I barely can hear my FRPP GTBs until I get over 80 MPH or accelerating rapidly. What mufflers are you running?

Running a single? I run the FRPP dual setup and no drone at all. Fantastic sound!

I running the single. Not sure if it is the FRPP M-5230-GTA or the FRPP M-5230-GTB. I got it last summer. At that time I think there was only 1 choice the the V6.
When I got it they told me it was actually a Borla muffler with Mustang racing stamped on it.
When I hit 75 to 80 the drone get annoying.

Drone typically happens at an RPM not a speed. To confirm it's the muffler see what RPM your at when you hear it, then try down shifting and hitting that RPM again. If it doesn't happen then omething else going on.... drive shaft, rear end, tranny, rotor, tires etc.

Your automatic doesn't have a 1, 2 or 3? Can't turn off OD? If it's drone it should happen at "just above 2300" thru all gears.

I see what you saying. It is through all the gears. I really notice the droning exhaust note when I am on the highway on long trips. I was just wondering if resonaters would help quiet it down to make those trips more comfortable.

Sorry, I'm having a real hard time believing it's a FRPP muffler thats doing it. There are so many of us in this forum as well as all the other forums that run it, no one is having issues with them (that I have ever seen). It's the setup that everyone goes to (beside GT take-off) to eliminate the drone. Maybe something is loose, you got the lowering kit, maybe it's hitting the axle, dunno. Sure way to prove it is to toss the stock muffler back on and go for a run, only a 15 minute job.

When i had my Macs, it droned so much, anyway when i went to the shop and he looked under the car, he said the resonator wouldnt fit because theres no space for it.
Resonators are long if that was the one he showed me like they look like glasspacks from Cherry bomb.

My GT stock mufflers were only a little bit quieter. The GTBs mostly have a throaty note to them and the burble a little bit under compression slowing especially when running a tune. They are louder than stock at WOT though.
But its not all just RPM that makes them louder. Engine load plays a factor too. Pressing the peddle down loud-ens them up even before the RPM has increased much.
Could be you are more sensitive to engine sounds than most mustang drivers.
Try flying piston airplanes, you need to wear hearing protection to keep from loosing some hearing! Now there is some drone.

I think you are probably right. I am used to driving smaller 4 cylinder cars. I have had a CRX and 2 Integras. Our other car is a Ford Freestyle.
When I drive the Mustang on long trips it is louder than I am used to. But around town driving the volume does not bother me. I like to roll down the windows and stomp on it driving under overpasses. Great sound!!!. I just thought that if I added a resonator it would quiet it down on long trips. I usually drive around 75 mph which is right at that 2300 rpm rate. If I cut it back it is not that bad. Was wondering if I might try to add more sound dampening in the trunk.

If you're having a real resonance issue at 2300 rpm, resonators will probably quiet that down. It will also quiet the muffler at the other rpms as well so be prepared to take the sound down across all rpm if you go that route.
