I was looking into a few things ...
New heads and possibly a F/I for my 2005 v6 convertable...
Now i came across a site that has crate engines for as low as $1999....
what would stop someone from getting the carb and some headers, and just bolting in 300++ horsepower for less $ and certainly less strain on the engine than the average F/I.....
Don't you think if it was that easy more people would be doing it?
Your trans will not work, you will need to fabricate mounting components, you will need suspension mods if the replacement motor is heavier... much of the power train will need to be rewired (the PCM comtrols most everything) It would never pass an emissions inspection, you may have trouble getting insurance and you'll probably not be able to sell the car after your finished with it.

right
well the emissions and street legal part i know
and would deal with
but are there no engines that would mount to the tranny that ford put in the automatic 2005 + v6 and GT?
and if the engine is carbeurated....it wouldent need to have wiring at all ...no?
the wiring is for the throttle body, electrical components, and fuel injection...
The 2005+ mustangs are drive-by-wire and when people say "the computer controls everything..." they aren't kidding. The accelerator pedal, gauges, transmission, etc. are all controlled by computer as well as pretty much everything else. If you went carbed you wouldn't need wiring for the motor, but you'd need to replace all those other things.

right
so if i keep the ecu for the "other things"
what would i need to do to get the car to run on a carbed engine
and have you seen this done?
ive even seen M3's with chevy engines ... why someone would do that i dont know
but it is all possible ...i just want to know if it would really be a good idea ...or should i just stick to the procharger..

I think it is a lot easier and less problematic to go F/I

check out the local wreckig yards for a GT engine. You might get a good deal on the whole 9 yards. Everything needed for a swap,,,and from what I have heard they bolt right up to the tranny..

Anything is possible. It is just how much time and money you want to spend on a project. ECM's get really moody when you start playing with them.

just seems like a lot of work when u can slap an x charger on in 6 hours time, not mess with and fabrications and just load a simple tune to get it running. yes, may be more expensive, but its easier and cost effective when u have a supercharged v6. you get a gas saver, insurance saver, and essentially a sleeper car that noone would expect to be fast. i just cant wait to see everyones faces when i get to the track again with my blower on...instead of 14.891s im gonna be running well into the 13's...with the ic hopefully high 12s or so.(btw im ordering my x charger this week! going to go 2.8 non ic till it comes out!) yay!
