so i bought some gt takeoff mufflers today and put it on (single) and i was a little disappointed. my friend had the super 44s on his and it was much louder. i realize its a stock muffler but i thought it would be a little louder than it is. anyways, im thinking of going super 44, does anyone know the best and or cheapest place to get one? on american muscle there is just the muffler for like 80, then the muffler kit for 200+ and im a little confused on which i need.
and also i got a quote for a traction lock and 3.73 gears today and they said around 1,100! i was thinking more like 500-600$ any thoughts? thats about the same as an 8.8 rear end. he also said the t lock is really weak and he replaces about 3 t-locks a week in his shop that didnt make me feel confindent haha. anyways any advice or opinions are appreciated!!!
A gt takeoff is not meant to be super loud, if thats what you want, you will have to go aftermarket. If you like the sound of Flowmasters, I recommend the Flowmaster American Thunder. Its a little more expensive then the 44, but it is specifically made for the mustang, and it gives the best quality in my opinion. And the price for gears is definitely high. In some areas, and depending on who you get to install, it will be very expensive. I would recommend buying the gears and tlok yourself and getting just an install price, I'm sure you can get them cheaper then what a shop would charge. Have fun.

+1 on that, definitely buy them on your own and just get the installation quote.

Buy the parts from American Muscle, thier prices are reasonable, and they often have discounts. then find "ANOTHER" shop to do the install. Coast me about 500 to do all you mentioned. Parts included, 3.73 gears, T-loc, and royal purple pumpkin juice.

the gt mufflers do get a little louder after a year, but werent made to be annoying loud. i been running a pair and find them perfect. best of both worlds.( performance/sound)
if there were big problems with the 7.5 lsd, there would have been many posts on here cause alot of guys have them, and mine come in the mail today. the lsd, gears and install kit, a little over 400.00.

I bought a set of GT takeoffs and I just replaced the V6 muffler with the right side GT muffler for a few days before I bought the parts to do the conversion. It is much louder with the dual GTs than with the single GT muffler, but not annoyingly loud.
One thing to consider is that the GT mufflers have no drone on the highway. I have a manual transmission and you hear the exhaust a lot in the first 3 gears, a little in 4th gear, but in 5th gear it is nice and quiet on the highway.
I thought the same thing as you. I wondered if the GT muffler would make my stock V6 sound any deeper. I decided on a magnaflow muffler and I'm pleased with it. It's a V6 single exhaust so I know it's not going to have that bad a$$ american muscle sound. For the time being it's fine for me. I don't think it's too "rice" sounding. Some do and some don't. This past spring I had a while new rear end put in. I priced out doing gears and t-loc however I found a decent deal on a whole assmebly 8.8, 4.10, t-lock, cobra pinion flange from newtakeoff.com. Install was $150. I'm about to take it to the track next Sunday for the first time with the new rear and new R2C cai. I ran 15.2 all last summer. I have no clue what I'll run this one.

I recommend the American Thunder as well it sounds the same as a 40 series but its made for the V6 05+ Mustang I have a sound clip of mine as well if you want me to link it,
you can get ithe American Thunder for 199 and install it yourself in about an hour maybe less

gears should prbably run you about 400 for the parts, and 200-350 for the install. 1,100 is way too steep.
as far as exhaust goes, check out the exhaust thread stickied on top of the 05+ v6 section
