Default going to 4.10's with a t-lok

I'm going to be upgrading to 4.10's and a t-lok relatively soon. The only question is whether or not to get an 8.8. I've heard many horror stories about how easy it is to break the 7.5 t-lok. Can someone chime in from experience?

*the difference in cost between the two is about $300 after installation

For the little extra money, the 8.8 is the way to go.

i am debating the same still lol...some people say: the 8.8 is stronger, go for that!

next 2 people chime in: I have 4.10s and t-lok on 7.5, and it runs great with no problems, save some money!

i think that I'm not going to get my car over 300 hp and some change, so I thin i'm staying with the 7.5

You do NOT need an 8.8 rear end. i have 4.10s t-lok the whole nine yards. i know someone with a procharger at 8 psi with a 7.5 rear. they are strong. you don't need it, but if you have the money go for it. unless youre going to run like 350hp at wheels you're fine imo.

v6 stangs only give like 185 at the wheels you need f/i to really need the 8.8. i can do 0-60 in around 5.3-5.5 seconds with my bolt ons. although zex wet system is incoming.

do it up man you won't regret it.

I had the same debate and heard both pros and cons. After thinking about it and knowing what I want the final outcome to be I decided to do a whole new rear end. newtakeoff.com has one for us. It's a great lil set up. 8.8" Rear axle assembly, 4.10:1 ratio with ABS and Trac-Loc (Cobra Pinion Flange). I had it installed this spring and taking it to the track this sunday. I had a 75 Zex wet shot I was going to put on but that got put to the side. For the plans I'd like to do having the 8.8 already there is a + for me. Install was about $150.00. I'm loving the 4.10's now.

I guess it's what you plan on doing with it. If you plan on doing a turbo or s/c then it would be benefical. Other then that it's a personal opinion. Whatever makes you feel safe. They are strong and can hold up.

Another thing to consider. How much extra does the 8.8 weigh? anyone know? I mean if its bigger it probably weighs more.
