As a Mustang and all around Ford fanatic, my preaching has spread to many of my friends. Though a few of them are still ricer-lovers or Camaro drivers, I tend to infect people with love for Fords.
One of my friends is now hell-bent on buying a 2000+ Lightning, and is convinced there's nothing I can do to overpower the massive 5.4L supercharged engine he'll be packing under the hood.
I'm not really the type of guy who obsesses over being faster than a GT, but his confidence level to be taken down.
So I've done some research, and it looks like a stock Lightning will run somewhere around 13.5. I haven't been to the track but I'm estimating my car somewhere around 15.
The performance mods I have in mind for the near future are the standard 8.8/4.10s/t-lok, Zex 75 shot, and MT 305/45/r18 ET Street II tires.
With the zex, gears, and tires, it will def help alot. If he keeps the truck stock, i think you could have him. Driver mod will help. My stock lightning, with a 2.2 or 2.3 60' would hit a high 13. My other friends has some work done and would run a 13.1 on DR's.
Also the weight factor, he def weighs alot more than your car.

whats the Lightning got done to it or is it stock? I have a 2000 Lightning and it destroys my GT im running 11.9 on the 1/4 with a few mods but still got the eaton S/C on it just ported and other things.
lemme know what he has done and maybe i can tell you if he ccan beat u or not. But driving themachine depends on the person behind the wheel.
Ive seen saleens run high 13s with work done to it but b/c the driver has no experience with the track his time was high.

Do you think I could whoop him with those mods?
don't do those tires, nothing but a f/i gt or cobra needs tires that wide. it's just gonna give you more drag down the track. with the nitrous i wouldn't go any bigger than 275's on the rear.
thanks for the input. im planning on buying a terminator next year so maybe i should stop spending all my money trying to make this car faster lol
i have 285's right now and i can smoke them from a stop in my auto without footbraking. i actually feel like i could use a little more traction out back.
and hes in the market for a stock lightning, maybe exhasut but not much else done to it. something that hasnt been dogged.
