Thanks for your help guys -- I appreciate it

yea well my tape is holding up

first pull your plugs and check your oil for antifreese.

I'm not doubting your teflon tape fix at all man, just saying there's gotta be something that's going on here. I can't imagine they'd reproduce a part that doesn't work/fit ya know?

That's good to hear you had issues with idling as well after you did yours, i thought my stang was having more problems on top of its current ones!

Default Thermosat Housing Seating Problem

Hello everyone, this is my first post. Just installed the new housing and it is leaking fom the bottom, I re seated it to make sure that was correct but water is still coming out. The 3rd time I put forma gasket on and the only thing that appears to be leaking now is the sensor of course ( I am getting some teflon tape to fix that.) Anyone have a similar issue with seating the housing?

welcome to the forums. last weekend i pulled mine all apart to replace all the hoses, and the thermostat housing. once i got it all off, the sensor did not fit into the housing. very loose. i ended up putting the old one back on. as far as sealing the bottom 1yankees, there is a o ring you can replace under the bottom housing. its a flat oring that fits into a groove.( see pic) i got that and the new oring for the thermostat.

i`m gonna try to get to the bottom of the sensor not fitting. i did put one wrap of tape on the sensor when i put it back into the old housing. the 3 line up tabs under the lower part broke right off with little effort, so i`m guessing the plastic is beat from the heat. so the saga continues......

either one of those sounds so wrong i am a huge fan of the gasket/weatherstip adhiesive though. my little country dealership hasnt had even 1 v6 come in yet with a cracked housing, so they dont know whats up. ive got them ordering in a new sensor so i can take the housing back and maybe my original sensor and check things out. maybe its a situation where you need to replace the sensor with the new housing. the sensors go for 33.00. i might have to call varsity ford in michigan and see what they say( its a bigger dealership)
