Who can school me in the topic of drivebelt pulley groupings?
Specifically, until replaced the factory water pump at 80K miles, the belt seemed to run nicely from pulley to pulley as it should. Once the new water pump went on, we noticed the crankshaft pulley seems to be offset towards the block causing the belt to walk off of the crank pulley and onto the harmonic balancer (which oddley appears to be in line w/ the other pulleys). We thought it was attributable to the new water pump but we pulled it back off and compared it to 2 other new ones and it appears to be the right one. We never took the crank pulley off at all. What's going on here? A brand new belt won't stay in the grooves either. Is this a problem with my tensioner pulley or what? |
