Default Adding an H pipe was a waste

Last spring I had a left side GT mid pipe and GT take-off mfflers installed and the "Y" pipe removed on my 07 V6. It sounded and and ran just great, and had no drone on the highway. It sounded particularly good at low RPMS in 1st and 2nd gear. I received many compliments on the nice sound. The only down side was after it warmed up the exhaust made no noise at all.

Yesterday I took it in and had an "H" pipe installed and I'm extremely disappointed. This was a complete waste of time and money. The sound is SLIGHTLY more mellow, but the volume has been cut by at least 1/2. It no longer has the nice sound at takeoff that it had before, and at idle it sounds only very slightly different than it did before.

i cut my y and installed a h and gt takeoffs. it sounds great to me. its not real loud unless i hammer it, which is what i wanted. not into alot of noise all the time. it still sounds deep and throaty idling.i havent heard any muffler set ups yet that sound good on a 6 revving it in park. but in gear under power my setup sounds great, as most do i think. if your more looking for loud all the time, take the gt`s off and go with something else. check out silvers exaust post in the stickys.

i have cherrybomb vortex muffler on mine. all stock except muffler. sounds very nice, very deep "muscular" rumble at ignition and nice sound at acceleration. also felt a little extra push when i step on it as well. have not experienced any popping whatsoever. its a very 1970's kinda rumble, not too loud, just low pitch humming. there is a clip on youtube of a 4.0 L ford explorer with the same muffler, sounds pretty much like mine.

it was just $200 canadian..muffler + install at napa.

HA! another Cherry Bomb Guy....I Thought We Were A Dieing Breed.....I Did The Same Thing...But I Threw On A Glasspack....It Sounds Awesome...Totally Made Me A Cherry Bomb Customer For Life....More Power...Car Runs Smoother And It Sounds Amazing! And To tell You The Truth I Actually Like The Powder Coat Red. The Best Part Of All. Is I Have Magnaflow And Borla Guys Asking Me About My exhaust And I Only Spent A Fraction of A Fraction of What They Paid And They All agree My Car Sounds Better.....Then I get To Watch There Jaw Drop When I Tell Them its A Cherry Bomb Glasspack...... Dont Under estimate the underdog.

hellz yeah, i called places for borla mufflers at first, shops said 300-400 just for a muffler and almost 900 for dual cat back. then i remembered i was at tim hortons aka the car show and some guy had a cherrybomb on his 2004 v6, sounded beautiful..its relatively cheaper cuz cherrybomb is just making a comeback with better production material and what not, and its one of the best (if not the #1) sounding muffler ive heard hands down on american cars.

and Ron, i got mine from JEGS.com, its less than $200. im not sure abt the glasspack but cherrybomb vortex # 300644 is the 2005+ mustang v6 direct bolt on kit, no welding issues.

here's what the vortex muffler alone sounds like on ford explorer 4.0 v6. this clip isnt too good in terms of quality, but PERSONALLY i think that is an amazing sound, even at the rev while parked.. its almost the same sound on our v6's too. to me it says "got power, but dont wanna sound attention desperate like a ricer"

my buddy has the following setup: stock headers + Ford racing X-pipe cut into the factory Y pipe, then FRPP GTA exhaust. It sounds good and nasty, best sounding V6 i have heard to date.

I agree with Mustangrocks, I love the sound of the GT take offs, especially when you get on them. Cheap alternative

The ford racing exhaust seems to be what I want to get if i'm keeping the six shooter but I'm doing a swap..sorry 6ers nothing personal...it sounds great though...the thing with the glass packs is that they do blow out eventually...and will rust because of inferior metals used. at least that my opinion from where I remember they used to be made.

hint hint...Im keeping the Six Shooter and building it..and WILL be selling it race turn key ready in about a Yr...so if anyone is interested...let me know....not too sure on the price just yet...I'll have to find out.

My car was not at all noisy before I added the "H" pipe. It sounded really good. I don't like noise. It sounded powerful, and had NO drone at all. But after adding the "H" pipe it hasn't near the nice sound it had before. I may just sell it and buy a GT now.

Why not just put it back like it was? Everybody tries things to see if they like them, sometimes it ain't good, so we change back.
