Default GT Takeoffs question

Ok so I bought a pair of GT Take offs and I am going to have a local muffler shop make me a x pipe for my V6. Problem is the mufflers where from a manual gt and I have an automatic. Is that going to drone real bad on me? Should I sell or trade them off or will it be fine?

I have the same mufflers (manual gt) on my auto.

Theres a little drone around 1500-2000rpm but doesnt
bother me any.

I think youll be fine with them

I recently put one of the 2 take offs I bought and it definitely sounds better during take off and around 3-4K rpm. I need to find a shop to fabricate me a H pipe because I'm really going for deeper sound.

I originally had my GT take-offs installed without an "H" pipe and the sound was just perfect, and it had no drone on the highway. But it made no noise all at idle once it warmed up. So I had an "H" pipe installed last week and I completely regret it. It was never loud, but now the exhaust has about 1/2 the sound it had before, and the sound is not as good. At idle now it has just a little sound, but the traffic from the highway 1/2 mile from my house drowns out what little sound it does have. For me, it was a complete waste of time, money and effort to get the "H" pipe installed. I have decided to try to sell it on Craigslist and buy a GT.

Torchred,

Did you use a x pr h pipe or just go straight? How is the sound? I am trying to keep mine not to loud but mean.
If you used x or h did you put it before or after your cat conv?

Sorry for all the questions just want to make sure I don't have to redo the exhaust

Wow..never would have thunk it...I bought a gt take-off exhaust from a 2005 gt manual and it sounds pretty good to me..it has a h-pipe so I'm suprized your set up is quieter..mine is quiet at idle but anytime on the gas its loud...really loud now that the weather is getting colder.

I bought the GT take-off mufflers on E-bay and got the left side GT mid pipe and hangars from the local Ford dealer. Then I took all the parts to a muffler shop and they cut out the "Y" pipe and fabricated two pipes to reach from the rear of each cat. converter to the front of each mid pipe. There was no H or X pipe installed.

I put the right side GT muffler on myself before I got the other parts to set up the duals. Actually...it was louder with the single GT muffler than with the duals.

As an added note. There was absolutely no seat-of-the-pants increase in performance with the dual exhausts. It feels exactly as it did with the old V6 muffler.

=O really? hmm I would've thought the h pipe and second gt muffler would've helped? I know some people that had good results with that setup. Idk about the straight pipes to the cats tho.

Did they go dual after the cat? Maybe with 2 cats on the straight it cut back some of the power gain

Bills Stang,

Yes, the cats are in place and the H pipe is after the cats. I was not really expecting a performance gain. I really did it for the appearance and to get a nicer sound. It doesnot sound horrible now, but it sounded a lot nicer before they put the H on.

It sounded exceptionally nice pulling away from a stop at low RPM in 1st and 2nd gear. That is what I lost. It just does not have that nice sound at that range. I received a lot comments on how nice it sounded. It didn't sound like a GT, of course, but it sounded powerful.
