Unhappy Huge jerk when going into reverse

Ok guys my stang is acting a little funny... For a few weeks now when I shift into reverse the car won't go into reverse right away it will sit a second and I will have the brake in and once it actually goes into reverse you feel a huge jerk. I am really worried about this because this is what my truck did before the transmission went out...... What is going on with my pony??

transmission fluid. part of how an automatic changes gears involves keeping the transmission under pressure. if the fluid is low it is not under the pressure it needs to be and things stop working right and can become damaged.

When I was getting scheduled maintenance on my auto transmission, the guy at AAMCO---knew of a technical service bulletin ( TSB's ) for my 05 V6. Same problem as yours "harsh reverse engagement" lucky I was still under warranty and my ford dealer changed some solenoids and other parts to fix the problem.

Suggest you check out the TSB section for more info.

Would you happen to know what the TSB number is ? Couldn't find it on the list I have.

Thanks

Try putting it in N first and then after a sec or two go to R. If i go straight to R from D while stopped it will kick a little but when i put it in N for two sec and then to R it changes like a butter without even noticing it changed

Glad it helped, usually thats how the auto transmissions act, when you drive for a while and it gets hot they kick going straight from D to R or vice versa. Dont worry the tranny is fine good thing is ford put the same auto transmission from GT to V6 but manual GT is beefed up vs manual 6

that condition will happen too if you start your car up and dont give it time to come to operating idle.
