Hi guys, I'm new here, but have used the forums as a reference for a long time. This is the first place I come to when I have a question... however for the first time ever, the question I have has not been asked before. Here is my question: As far as a muscular sound is concerned, should I keep my Pypes Street Pro mufflers OR get a pair of GT take offs? I am just talking about the mufflers since I already have true duals. I have heard some sound clips from people with the Pypes x pipe and GT take offs and it sounds great, not to mention I found some gt mufflers on ebay for about 30 bucks... Should I stick with the Street Pros or go for the GT take offs? I know its preference, but any opinions would be great! Thanks guys =) !!
Here is my current set up:
2008 4.0 L mustang
Air Raid Cold Air Intake, Air Raid throttle Body Spacer, Pypes shorty Headers, Pypes True Dual Kit (with x pipe), Street Pro mufflers.
I actually have gt takeoffs and was looking into getting some pypes...what about the pypes do you not like?? Ive heard the pypes violators and they sound amazing on the six!!
yeah i have heard that the pypes Violators are really good... I have the kit that came with the Street Pro mufflers. If I'm not mistaken, the Pypes GT Catback system comes with Street Violators, and the Pypes V6 True Dual kit comes with Street Pro mufflers... at least that what I saw on American Muscle. It's not that I dislike what i have right now, but I have heard from lots of people that the GT take offs are AMAZING with the Pypes Mid Pipe X pipe. In addition, I found a pair of polished tipped (yes thats a plus =) ) on ebay for about 25 bucks. I figured I can just take it to the muffler shop, have them put on, and if i dont like em, i can put the Street Pros back on... they have a loud airliner like drone at low RPM inside.... Just really wanted a few opinions. Seems that john and red like what they got
I'm going to try and post a few soundclips of my car, because it does sound pretty good, but those GT take offs looked attractive too
i like my gt takeoffs. when you start it it has a deep sound, and when the rpm's drop it's actually really really quiet, but it's ok though, no drone at all.
When you hit the gas it sounds amazing, but you should upload a soundclip or video on youtube and post the link of your exhaust you have now so you can get some opinions on what to do with your exhaust
good luck

If you can get a set of GT mufflers for $20 bucks then absolutely go for it..im guessing though it will be a little quieter than your current set-up.. Gt's on mine are exactly like everyone elses im sure..cold start they sound amazing at idle...little louder while on the gas..full throttle ,good lord, they sound amazing...I know they sounded alot better for me with a tune and the cold air intake!!
The Pypes might drone at certain rpms and become bothersome. So i'd stick with the GT mufflers

What do you guys think about gt500 stock mufflers on it? Is there any difference between the 4.6 GT muffler and the 5.4L GT500 muffler? I know the gt500's have chrome tips and are 3 inches at the end? Saw some on ebay for about 35...
GT500 and GT takes offs are almost similar, i think you will have quieter sound going from Pypes to GT take off
Borla is the best sounding muffler but the most expensive, i have Macs and love them

i've got the pypes 69 series true dual kit with x-pype and shorty headers. then i added exhaust dumps right after the cats and deleted the mufflers. mine grabs attention at idle and all through the rpm range. it's pretty loud for a v6 but everyone seems to love the sound.
