Default 2006 Mustang V-6 4.0 plug replacement

Okay..first of all, I am not a gear head. But I am trying to learn how to take better care of my car. So please keep the laughter to a minimum. I used to change the plugs in an old foreign car I used to have (which shall go unnamed..) and I changed the oil myself. I also managed to change out my bad alternator a week ago. All is well on that deal so far. My question is:
Are there any things I need to look out for b4 attempting to change out the plugs on my '06 and are there any performance plugs I can get as opposed to the generic OEM type plugs? I know I need to mark the wires, gap the plugs properly, disconnect the negative battery cable.
WHat other things might pop up and surprise me? On my old car I used to have to replace the whole cap assembly as it was in one piece and the plug boots were very fragile. I'm on a REALLY tight budget and something little like this could be a nice performance improvement however small.
V-6 Pony Package, automatic
70K miles (plugs never changed out)
Thx

If you change one plug at a time you won't have unsightly marks on you wires. Use only hand tools and slowly unscrew the plug, incase of excessive carbon build up on the inside it won't strip the threads as you unscrew. If you start to notice the plug gettin harder to unscrew stop and screw it back in part way and then try again. Sometimes you may have to do this a couple of times before it comes out.
The plug you use should be a motorcraft plug, sometimes I have had some comebacks using autolite's.

a few things you might want to do is apply a little anti-seize to the threads. it also doesnt hurt to apply some dielectric grease( looks like a silicone) to the inside of the wire boots. the other thing thats a good idea is to use a torque wrench. our plugs should be 156 in. lbs. or 13 ft. lbs. the way the wires are laid out, its pretty hard to mix them up. these cars dont have distributor caps or rotors. just a coil, (on the divers side top rear), wires, plugs. the factory stuff is pretty good. it you wanted to upgrade, do a search on here for the screamin demon coil and live wires. there are also other good brands of wires available( like msd). at the very least, you should buy a chiltons manual for the car for 20-25 bucks. well worth it.

stay away from champion plugs, get autolites, ngk or bosh. i use autolites. get a piece of paper and mark how your wires are run. to double check, even get some masking tape, tape your wires and label them. standing at the front of your car looking at your engine, cylinder numbers go...passenger side bottom to top, 1 - 2 - 3. drivers side, 4 - 5 - 6. your coil is kinda goofy, it goes 123 closest to the firewall left to right, then 465 right to left on the bottom closest to the front of the car. also do what amaustangrocks said with the antisieze. be very carfull pulling plugs and installing them too.
