okay i have a good set up, dual flowmasters and h-pipe with headers, i was thinking of cutting out my cats, would this be a really good idea or no, how loud do you think it would be,
It will be alot louder, you will notice a difference in sound quality.
Instead of cutting them out and getting straight pipes put in, id try to hollow the cats. yanno take the guts out of the inside. So u can put the cats right back in with no problems.

Personally I think it's a bad idea, if that's your only car you will probably get sick of the sound on long drives...the hp gains would be minimal as well, also if you ever sell or trade the car you'd have to contend with replacing the cats, not to mention any warranty claims might be voided. I guess I could mention the environment and blah blah, but that's another topic.

I have a 2007 CS GT without cats, its loud, does not help the power and you may have emissions problems depending on the state your in. I would leave them in or get high flow cats
i have an O/R H-pipe on my 05 GT. i had an X last year. it sounds great wide open, is absolutely silent at 70, but everything in between in miserable. i commute at 3 am and 1 pm, so i am never stuck in traffic.
we have an 89 XR4Ti that the previous owner hollowed out the cats and it sounded really bad. i put a new cat on it and it is much better, the muffler guy said the shape of the chamber left was poor for flow and sound.
all i have noticed was that the sounds with the cats on sounded less crisp.
