Default speedometer drops then shows zero!

2005 4.0 automatic transmission V-6 Mustang - problem? When car gets warmed up (after about 25-30 miles of driving) the speedometer starts dropping off. I will be going about 60 MPH but the speedo will show only 25-30 MPH. Then it will drop lower to the point where I will be driving about 65 but the speedo will show 0 MPH. What will cause this?

ive had a similar problem with my temp and rpm gauge and once my fuel gauge. it comes an goes with my car i took it to the dealer once but it was acting fine. sometimes i would start my car an it would idle at 0 rpm and the temp gauge would do a full 180 and point down. disconecting the battery would always reset everything but is annoying. i finnaly got the the whole instrument cluster panel coming in and is suppose to get in tommorow hope it fixes it. is your car always off or does it jus do it sometimes?

hey edge, welcome to the v6 tech forums. theres a few people on here with similar problems with the clusters. the only suggestion i have is to check the connection behind the cluster. maybe loose or corrosion. it takes about 10 minutes. instruction pics are in the sticky sec under mycolor cluster writeup. maybe the clusters are going bad. i never had a problem with mine to 60k then i swapped for the mycolor. seems odd a few people would have the problem. hopefully someone will nail down the cause.
