Default Chip repair techniques

I thought I would post this to get some feedback on the different ways to do chip repair...here is my technique that I seem like so far...

1. Clean chip area
2. Using blue painters tape, mask of all sides of chip
3. Apply touch up paint
4. Let touch up paint sit until it gels together, but is not completely dry...( I can actually see the paint gel together after a couple of minutes due to the metallic color of my Stang)
5. Using a plastic card, wipe the surface of the chip to smooth out paint. This must be done while the paint is a liitle wet still (Must clean edge of card after every swipe)
6. Remove tape (I tend to remove it in a fairly quick motion)
7. Apply Quixx Scratch remover on and around chip area.
(I reallly like how this works to smooth out the chip)
8.Buff and clean area.

This technique makes me satisfied with how the chip looks after, but am definitely looking for some other techniques to try...

For sure, take before and after pictures. I've done that before myself and it really works, but it'd be good to show others.
