Default 2005 Mustang V6 Speedometer/Gas Gauge issues

Since this is my first thread on the forums, I'd like to start of by saying hi. And since I've announced myself, let's get to the question at hand.

I purchased my 05 earlier this year in Florida, used to the hot and humid weather. I then brought it home in Virginia, where it tends to get rather cold this time of year. Since then is where I started having problems with the car.

Usually when I started up the car in the warmer days, gas gauge and speedo worked correctly, yet now that it's colder (45 and below), after warming up, gas gauge doesn't work until I'm half way to work (atleast 10 to 12 miles away from home.) and speedometer works fine for a few minutes, but when I stop at a light or a stop sign, speedo goes below 0 and doesn't work.

Antother little thing, when I fill up the tank, it shows way past full. I can provide pictures after I fuel up again (later in the week). I've already had these issues addressed after purchasing the car when the gas gauge wouldn't show past 1/2 tank and wouldn't let me put in more than 1/2 tank of gas.

If there are any suggestions or any ideas of what to get checked out, I'd very very much appreciate them.

welcome to the forums. sorry i dont have a answer for you, but there has been just a few people that have had cluster issues. mine was fine to 64k but then i replaced it anyway with a mycolor cluster. theres a writeup with pics in the sticky section at the top of this forum. i know one guy said he had to just replace his cluster due to similar problems. if you have any warranty, its the time to use it. my only idea to the other guys was to check the connector on the back of the cluster.

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot I will share this: The other day when I gassed up I was puzzled as to why my gauge was only showing half. After a few minutes I realized I was in fact looking at the temperature, not the fuel... It was just one of those days.

ha, thats not so bad. alot of people get caught with the pump kicking off at 1/2 or 3/4 full, so of course the gauge does not read full i have not seen any solid answers to cluster gauge problems other than replacement. if that the case, and no warranty, its time for the mycolor cluster ( if you have the wire harness and can install it)

Sorry if it's somewhat bumping, but I've looked a bit into this and thankfully I got the platinum warranty when I got the car, it's being fixed tomorrow. So if a mod wishes, you can lock the thread as it'll be resolved soon. Thanks for all advice from those who submitted it.

Also, amustangrocks, your mod to the GT cluster is amazing. I'm thinking of doing that as a christmas present to myself
