Default SCT tuner questions

I have still 10 gallons in the tank and today I've put my new C&L CAI and uploaded a 87economy tune (AMAZING!).
Ok,now, should i wait till I have 10 miles left of 87 otane gas on the odometer and make a tank of 93 and upload the 93tune at the gas station or drive home(2 miles)and then upload the tune?
On the SCT I have one 93economy and a 93+,the last one is the performance one right?
Is better if i use a particular kind of gas brand to have better performance?
Thank you all in advance!

Use a top tier gasoline to keep those valves clean.

Top Tier Gasoline

Yeah, you should burn off as much of the 87 before uploading the 93 tune. You may want to use some octane booster your first time converting to the 93... I'm not sure, but it sounds like it'd work to me.

Too much octane isn't a problem, it's too little that will cause problems.

how do you come up with this stuff? its awesome i use conoco down here and get good mileage. ive tried shell here and was not impressed at all.

ya, take the tank down pretty low, then yes, you can drive home the 2 miles after you fill it with premium and upload the tune, or do it at the station, you should be fine either way.

Never, ever, ever use octane booster. Faster way to a new set of plugs!

No way!? I've never heard that before. Thanks for the tip!

Can I ask why?

I had an 87 performance tune as well and about 1/4 tank of gas, I ran my tank down to about 2 gallons before I filled up with the 91 octane, then I installed my tune and then I was shocked at how much better that tune was, have fun with your new car again

It doesn't work and it will foul plugs to the point where they are unrecoverable. The only thing that will work to increase octane is Torco race fuel or a mixtue of acetone and xylene which is very hazerdous (carcinogenic) and eats rubber fuel lines. I found that out the hard way!

leave the 87 on. drive until you get your fuel light. then fill up on 93 and i would add some octane booster just to be safe.
