Default Are Underdrive Pulleys worth it?

Is the gain you would get from underdrive pulleys worth the 300? Has anyone bought them and think that they notice a difference in performance? Are they simple to install or do you need a special tool?

when i look at it it just looks like id have to take the belt off and its just one bolt, the american muscle site said mechanics tools were required, maybe they mean a torque wrench, and i have that so i should be fine

i saw your sig. do the rear end first, you'll get bigger gains from it. but 3.55 gears are a waste of money. get 4.10's

CORRECT !!!!
use the money for the rear end first. 4-10 is best gain, but if you do highway traveling, id go with 3.73's. But your biggest most notiable gain would be with 4.10's. Then get a CAI if you don't already have one. 3RD, get a good Exhaust, and header combo, after that then worry about pullies.

But im at the point of adding pullies, so i hope a person who can answer his original question chimes in. I intrested in it myself.

UDPs on the V6 are not a great investment.

The udp set up is fairly easy to install. remove the belt and the pullies. Check torque specs. on all bolts removed. There may be a pully puller needed for the crank pully. The rear end would be a good place to start, but not everyone has expendable cash for a rear end swap, this I would leave to the pros. I think of udp set ups like I do throttle body spacers. Races are won by 0.001 of a second, so any minimal horsepower gain will be taken. with a smile

i havent checked into these pulleys yet. but i have seen on other forums that guys have seen noticeable increased mpg with them.

i can say, if it involves replacing the crank pulley, ive done that already, that in itself is a bit of a challenge because the pulley is so deep. the metric bolts that come with a pulley puller kit arent long enough to do the job, and you will need to make up some spacers for the center pulley shaft/bolt to reach the crank. you are also suppose to replace the( dealership) 7.00 pulley bolt at the same time.

Thanks for the info on the puller. I own a Mac tools master pulley puller set, do you know if the longer bolts are in this set. I haven't done the udp set yet, it is next on the mod. list for next spring.
