Some will say 4.10's then. but for me, either 3.73's or 4.10's will work.

Ok I'm wanting to do gears as well but I have a GT and its manual. Why does whether the car is manual or automatic matter?

I'll be going with 4.10 myself if I ever pull this trigger. I weighed the options and I'll get to most get up and go feeling and kill my mpg but I do city driving any way and don't care if I fill up a little more.

I've heard some people talk about the general rule of goin with 3.73's for manuals and 4.10 on autos. Basically 4.10's will offer a little more pull from my understanding, but raise your RPM at every speed. So with 4.10's you are gonna eat up gas a little bit faster... but like DJ said, if you don't mind filling up a little more often 4.10's have a good performance value.

If you are going to do city and highway driving go with the 3:73's.At 65-70 only about 200-250 more RPM'S tops in OD.With the 4:10's,about 300-350 more RPM'S at said speed.4:10's are great for city only. Not very good for highway/long trips.Eat up too much gas, plus your RPM'S are way too high IMHO.Hope this helps. Also might look into getting a T-LOK for the gears you choose.

very well stated... I think when I eventually upgrade it will be 3.73... but the installation on the darn things is expensive as hell... like 2x the price of the gears haha.

You can go to newtakeoff.com and get a 8.8 rear end already set up with the 3:73's and the T-LOK and install it yourself or have a friend help you install it.A bunch of the members have done this to their Mustangs.I think there is a thread on this subject on how to install the rearend. You might PM Stlwagon or 05horse about that.Hope this helps you.

do 4.10's. everyone exaggerates the mpg difference. i honestly haven't seen a difference in mpg between 3.31 and 4.10's. mostly because your city mpg gets better while your highway drops a few. it all averages out though. the added quickness of the 4.10's over the 3.73's is far worth it though.

the difference is 100 rpms but you're making out the gas consumption to be a whole lot worse than it is. i have 4.10's and i can barely notice a difference on the highway as far as mpgs go.
