Looks like an oil catch can with a breather on top. The can will catch oil from the line before it gets back into the intake tract. This one also vents to the atmosphere. I know some have catch cans and some have breathers but I have never seen them both in one.I have a catch can minus the breather on my car. Maybe someone with some knowledge on it will chime in.

Why does a catch-can have a breather on top? Isn't the point to pass the crank case vapor thru it and let any atomized oil settle out into the little resevoir? From one of the StarTrek movies, "Why does God need a spaceship?"

The breather will help to reduce crankcase pressure. Especially good for a supercharged application.

Is there any benefit from it for a mostly stock V6? I don't know why but I kind of want it
