How large of a tire can I fit on a 215/45/17 tire/wheel? (that being my stock wheel on my 09 mustang).

you shouldn't have that tire on there. if you have the 17's it should be a 235/55-17. the biggest you should go on that is a 255/50-17. any bigger and you're not gonna get any tread life out of it. with those mods you won't need wider than a 255 though.

johnsheppard... u don't realize i know clearly already know that.... lol. I NEVER get traction from 0-40 if i floor it. but my car is new, only 6,500 miles on it. So getting new tires isn't looking so good yet but hopefully i can afford some soon. That is my next mod for sure.

if you have a 215 tire then you have the 215/65-16's.. in which case find some bullits on craigslist and upgrade to the 255/50-17 tire. those wheels are an inch wider and you can fit a fatter tire on them. also you are only spinning one wheel so upgrade your rear end to have a limited slip differential and you might as well get 4.10's while you're at it. head up to my work (discount tire @ custer / 121) and talk to jon. he'll know what you can do for sure.
