Everytime I make a sharp turn right or left I hear a loud clicking noise. I had pep boys check it out and after everything they said it would cost about 1000 dollars. Has anyone else had this problem and had it done cheaper? Does anyone know where i can buy these parts for cheap? Thanks

Sounds like it could be a problem with the strut mounts popping. Not nearly a $1000 fix.

OEM strut mounts are part #5R3Z18183A. You can find them at RockAuto Auto Parts

you can get the gt takeoff shocks and struts cheap,,,i bought the strut mounts from fords,20-30 each. you can get a coil spring compressor set for under 20.00 for the struts at harbor freight and do it your self for free. wont beat that price

All depends on what the real problem is. Bad strut mount or a bad strut. Tough to diagnose on here. What did Pep Boys say it needed?

Heres what pepboys said: top sturt mount bearing making noise, tech says both are binding up, recommened strut at same time as maintence.

Unless the strut is leaking/damaged, you can just replace the mounts.

also the mechanic found that my tierod end-outer boots are cracked any thoughts on those?

to replace the strut mounts, you need the coil compressor anyway. it would only take 2 minutes to just replace the strut at the same time. the gt struts make the v6 just a tiny tad stiffer, but i like it. and they are cheap. if you dont replace the struts( like that guy said, i replace mine by 50k, leaking or not, so it would be a wise move, since its the same install job anyway) you could replace just the strut mount bearings for about 60.00 plus the spring tool, and a couple hours labor. that guy is way high on the price, but maybe thats what a shop charges.

It should take care of it. Service manual calls for 2 hours of labor, so figure about $200 plus parts.
