Does anyone know how much it would cost (ballpark) to switch to a manual transmission on a V6 '05 Mustang. It's been nearly impossible to find a V6 in Windveil Blue with all the options I want with a manual tranny. A local dealer has the exact car I want (minus the 5SPD) and I'm really curious as to whether or not it's feasible to get the car converted to manual. Thanks so much.
2005 GT, Performance White, Shaker 500, Charcoal Leather, Spoiler Delete, Sequential Tailights, Aftermarket IUP, Sirius satellite with PIE adaptor, shorty antenna, 3rd set of front suspension parts, 2nd gas tank, and no more HC trap

Why don't you just order an 06 with what you want?

It is probably not possible due to all the electronics involved. I tried to do a similar thing with a 96 Tercel - it was a manual and I wanted to make it auto for my mom to drive. Not possible according to a local transmission place.
the reason i don't want to wait for an '06 is two-fold. first off, i need a car immediately. secondly, i'd rather get a used model and save a few grand.
Believe it or not, the stock 4.0 auto is quicker than the stick.

yeah, i've heard that. i'll probably leave the car auto, but it's nice to know i'd have the option. even though it's an expensive option.
i just don't know if i can live with the myself if i drive around an automatic mustang. i've always had manual transmissions. i feel like i'm riding around in a sea ray whenever i get into an automatic car.

Not to worry Young Jedi, this is not your Fathers "slushbox." Take the loot you have to switch out a tranny and put it into some mods. Start with an SCT XCAL for around $350. Here you will get the most immediate "bang for your buck." For less than a grand, you'll come to know and love your auto V6!! Trust me on this one.

THIS IS VERY GOOD ADVICE MY NEXT UPGRADE FOR MY STANG IS A PACKAGE THAT INCLUDES A COLD AIR INTAKE ANK XCAL TUNER FOR JUST UNDER $700(NOT INCLUDING S&H)
I actually had my dealership look into this as I was thinking about doing some road racing. They gave me an approx. of $3000.00 but stated they hadn't done this before so it was a very rough estimate. However, if I were you, I'd go with Regensemer's advice and keep the automatic. I kept mine and I'm very satisfied with its performance.
