Got a 2005 v6 (Trixie) and for a while I have been looking to invest in a dual exhaust system. I called up my local Ford dealership that does mods and the guy said exactly what I thought he'd say. They have the Magnaflow and Flowmaster exhaust kits for the 2005 v6 stang.
Now I am looking for that deep, throaty, v8 muscle sound, the one that turns heads. I was wondering whether anyone else had to make this decision, or does anyone have an 05 v6 with either on it? I have heard the clips from magnaflow, but none from Flowmaster (can't find any). I was wondering if anyone can help me out with what the Flowmaster will sound like, and what might be the better choice for my v6.
Thanks a lot,
Mark

Flowmaster...but it will still just sound like a louder 6 cyl.

I'd look into some induction too. You'll never get the V8 sound with a 6, you can get nice sure, but the 8 sound comes from firing order and all that. That said, flowmaster and intake... a little intake roar never hurt anyone
Thanks a lot, that's all I'm looking for really, a more throaty sound. I was told that the flowmmaster single cat back exhaust will sound great.
man, sound is totally subjective. try to find some clips, and see which you like best.

I want a new exhaust but I dont like either of the two choices currently offered. I think I will buy the left side GT pipe and hangers and build my own.

that won't work, you need equal sizes, and you'll look funny with a turndown on one side and straight on the other.
You'll need an adapter, and both tailpipes.
GT takeoffs are generally around $100 for both pipes.

Try the JBA Axleback - it's the closest sound to a V8 you will find. This could pass for a 60's small block V8 sound if you were not looking.

Who knows if you still need the help, but I just got the Magnaflow dual exhaust installed on my v6. It sounds completely amazing- a very deep growl, not high pitched at all. Definately turns heads, and looks great. The sound clips on the Magnaflow website don't do it justice.
I had a flow master on my 4.0 V-6 before I traded up to the GT. There was an extremly annoying drone at 65+ mph. I do alot of highway driving and hated it after a while. Just my 2 cents.
