I have read various posts about some of the 2005 and 2006 Mustang about having a slight stall / engine hesitates on take off when hot / running for long periods of time, more than 30 minutes. My 2006 Mustang V6 with pony package, 4.0L, 5 speed manual is doing the same thing. Ford has a TSB out to get this problem fixed. I took my stang to the shop and the TSB read that the fuel pump was the problem. The service department ordered the part which is Ford Part Number 7R3Z-9H307-C; sender and pump unit. Should be in within the next day or so. Not all Mustangs are having this problem but I wanted to post what I found out today (June-8-2006)
:thumbsup
If any of you are experiencing this problem, feel free to post, if you find something different. The TSB comes right out and states what the problem is and why. I do not have the TSB number but you may want to stop by your local dealership service department and check with them and let them know. I had to go to 4 different service departments since March 2006 until I found out what my problem was. I hope this helps everyone out that is or still has the same problems as I have.
Oh man... my car has been in the shop 4 times for this. Of course... they can't find anything. I LOVE THIS FORUM! Thanks alot guys.

My 06' displayed this problem from day one and only has 3200 miles on it now. It would take as little as 30 miles of driving to bring on the condition. It was quite dangerous in stop and go city driving. The car would hesitate when the clutch was released. The engine would roll back and if I didn't catch it quick the car bucked like a bronco or would die.
I took the TSB with me to my dealer when I dropped it off for a oil change today and explained the symptoms the car had and they called me this afternoon to let me know a new fuel pump will be arriving tomorrow. I asked what they did to isolate the problem and they said the problem is wide spread and they test drive it to verify the problem.
What they could not tell me was what design change this sender/pump assembly has over the current installed unit.
Picked up the car late this morning and wrang it out in a 2 hour drive. Appears the problem is fixed but time will tell. I also noticed the odometer had an extra 30 miles on it and a full tank when I picked it up. The service manager said they drove it yesterday and validated the problem before the repair and topped it off after the work in return for the mileage. Wow, never had that happen before.
My car is going in the 29th for this. I'll let you know how this goes. My dealer likes to say "we can't find the problem" so we'll see how it goes.

My GT goes in Tuesday for the same problem, they are changing out the fuel pump. Hopefully that will stop the hesitations

I got this fuel pump changed out after going to 3 different dealerships in the knoxville area. 2 of them said the pump was on back order and the dealership I bought my car from had the pump in overnight. You may want to stay on top of this TSB and stay on the service department. Some dealerships do not want to do the paperwork if you did not buy the car from them. But from what I have read in a few magazines and articles on the web, the fuel pump is not on back order so do not let the service department tell you a lie.
Thanks to all who contribute to this forum. I've had the hesitation problem ever since I took delivery. Took it back in at least three times without the dealer service dept. being able to fix it. Then last week noticed the post with a TSB # so I called the dealer the next day and within a week they ordered the fuel pump, installed the new part and after driving it for three days now the problem has disappeared. I was over my 36,000 mile limit but since the service dept. had it on record that the problem existed it was fixed without cost to me.
Wow, I'm so glad to have found this. I have been noticing the same thing, thought it was time to change gas stations, but really didn't believe that was the cause. I will be visiting my dealer soon to have this looked into.
Wow guys, my 2006 V6 manual trans car does this only when I'm on the freeway for more then 20 minutes, cruising at 70+, and as I exit the offramp, then after waiting for a green light, it does that hesitation dance that really pisses me off.
I wonder if this TSB fix noted above will ALSO fix the squirrliness the car has when it is cold in 1st gear...In the mornings, I drive through a large parking lot in 1st, and the drivability of the car sucks until it gets warmed up. Anyone else have this experience?

Sometimes when it's cold it lurches in first gear pulling out of the lot. Makes me look like I can't drive stick, which pisses me off. Maybe the clutch needs to warm up or something? never does it when warmed up.
WOW! I was considering possibly a 2006, but maybe not?! Too new, too many problems already? What's going to happen in a year from now? Nice looking cars for sure, but how are they going to hold up? I'm beginning to lose faith in ford.
