All I can tell you is that MagnaFlow will make your car sound like an import(ricey),
I just put a magna flow dual exhaust on my 2005 v6 as well and it sounds great. It doesnt sound high pitched at all. You get a nice rumble. Its not as deep as the v8's but it is great for a v6. Mine cost around 400 with installation. But it was local and i didnt have to order parts online.
I am looking to purchase a dual exhaust setup for my 05 V6 Mustang. I can spend up to a thousand but preferrable would want something lower in price, maybe around $500? In my case, more performance gains would be nice but I am mainly just looking for the throaty, agressive, old muscle car sound. People have mention good things about Borla and Bassani but have noted they are not street legal and for "off-road" use only. I am also going to need to get a bumper to accomodate the dual exhaust tips, would the GT rear bumper fit? Thanks for all the posts and comments, feel free to leave your opinions. Now keep in mind I want something that is fairly simple for my mechanic to install and won't leave my car in the shop for weeks.
Check out this video on my site. This is the dual magnaflows. http://jackhillyer.spaces.live.com/ I love the interior sound. More than the exterior sound. I assure you it does not sound like a ricer in person. Now that being said, I was talking recently with they guy that tuned my car and put the custom exhaust on and told him I just want it a little louder and was asking him about putting some glasspacks (However you spell that) on and he said not to waste the money. He thinks the best solution would be to run straight pipes. He says with the V6 you can get away with it and it won't be too loud.
I am probably going to give that a try. If it works out I'll post new vid. Anyone out there that has straight pipes on a v6 feel free to post a clip.
You will need a pair of GT Mufflers ($50 on eBay), a GT Midpipe ($85 at your Ford Dealer), and a couple of factory hangers ($35 from your Ford Dealer).
So RGensemer... I noticed you purchased the GT Midpipe? Just wondering what that is? I'm thinking of doing th same and LOVE the price you paid, as it fits in my budget.
I have Dual GT takeoff mufflers with the FRPP X-Pipe and a GT rear bumper and it cost me just under $500 for the whole setup. I wouldn't recommend going with the FRPP X pipe because it doesn't fit the V6 the right way, only the GT. Instead get a x pipe for the v6 and you should be good.
Love the sound though, nice and throaty and it's got decent volume.

Stay away from Magnaflow. It sounds like **** (seriously). If you wanna hang out with the ricers in their little Honda hatchbacks, go with Magnaflow.
I personally wanted to go with Borla or Corsa, but I couldn't afford it.
I have dual Flowmaster 40's on straight pipes with long tube headers. It sounds great. Get the GT bumper if you can. I still need to get one for my stang. I was right about to get it one week, but for some reason I decided to wait. The next week, someone rear ended me. I'm glad I didn't spend the money to replace it then!
Make sure to go with 2.25" pipes if you are going to do a true dual setup on a v6. Otherwise, you will lose a lot of back pressure with 2.5" pipes.
Check out my pics. You can see my exhaust setup.

I have the JBA shorty headers,GT takeoffs,GT left side pipe with H pipe and GT takeoff bumber(matched color). All for under $1000.sounds and looks good.
You will need a pair of GT Mufflers ($50 on eBay), a GT Midpipe ($85 at your Ford Dealer), and a couple of factory hangers ($35 from your Ford Dealer). It will go MUCH smoother and look MUCH better if you use Factory parts. (You cannot beat stainless steel + the Midpipe is mandrel bent to fit and align correctly). I notched the eyebrow in my bumper using an air dremel and a CD for a template. If you don't want to cut your bumper, the GT bumper is a direct replacement. Good Luck!
thanks for all the info, you are helping alot. how much/where do you think one could go to get the bumper on the v6 cut to accomodate the extra muffler? any body shop in the area? i mean is this an easy thing for a body shop to do. cause yes...that would save the money from purchasing the whole GT bumper. i know someone at a local ford dealership that can probably get me the bumper...but the cut in the v6 definetly would be easier. it's just scary, and i don't want it to look bad. then there is just sticking to a single exhaust. which is even easier with like no risk, and less cost than buying a new bumper.
all i have to go by is these sound clips online, which aren't the best quality. the best from what i could tell is the Ford/Borla one.
is the dual GT a lot louder than just having the one exhaust. cause i'm definetly not going for to wake up the neighbors. i already got my windows tinted, i don't need to attract more attention...hehe
gt takeoff mufflers for the money is a great price and good sound. i ran single and now duals. the duals are a fuller sound, not alot louder. i wouldnt want any louder though, i`m allready driving a " pull me over red" mustang. ive got a sound clip on this forum right now of gt duals at idle. i also like the look of the v6 bumper notched. it was real easy to do for free.

As long as you have the rest of the setup, any 4.6/4.0 replacement muffler will work. One caveat - wait until you have the muffler before you notch the eyebrow in the muffler as the diameter of the chrome extension will vary and you want to fit it to the eyebrow with enough overall clearance to prevent your bumper from melting.
