Default 05 v6 Questions: Exhausts and Superchargers

Hey everyone,

I am slowly but surely learning more and more about cars and performance parts, so please forgive me if I ask any stupid questions.

I own an 05 v6 and I am looking to boost performance and sound. So I am looking into getting a supercharger along with a single exhaust.

These are the 3 exhausts I am looking at. I would like to know who, if anyone has these installed, and if there have been any issues with them. Is there any annoying noises when highway driving? Puttering?

Flowmaster

MagnaFlow

JBA

Now as for superchargers, I really need some advice. I am looking for suggestions, prices, warnings, anything that might help me. I did some research but I would love to hear some personal input from some people here.

Just something I came across earlier:
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05v6ati.htm

Please, any advice is helpful.

Thanks,
Mark

Personally I believe the best performing muffler is the MRT single axle back... it really lives up to its performance claims and sounds great!!! For my complete write up including, pics, vids and dynos go here: http://www.tammyandjohn.com/Mustang/...ng.htm#muffler

We also just installed the Vortech Supercharger in my car. We went with the HO version (aftercooler). Great product! The Mistress is now putting down 313RWHP!!! WOOHOO!!! From some pics, vids and dyno of the Vortech go here: http://www.tammyandjohn.com/Mustang/...ang.htm#rescue

Here's a little list i made of FI available or will be soon:
http://american-speed.com/collective...read.php?t=167
Maybe it will help.
IMO, the best power adder for the 4.0 is the Powerhouse Turbo. It's expensive though. I like the Vortech if you want a centri SC, and the price is right. If you want an easy install, something that won't kill your engine and gives you tons of power off the line, get the X-Charger. There are more options in the works. You really can't go wrong with any of those three.

Default Muffler and SC

Ok here we go. I have the JBA true duals w/ H pipe. Steeda CAI and the JBA headers. When I went to my local Dyno it was 207 rwhp. They told me that was 238 at the crank. BFD. I sounds great. I roll my windows down before I start the car just to enjoy it. I doesn't sound like a 4cyl with a coffee can. I think it sounds close to an 8.
Distinct and strong. Just be carefull who installs is, My installers felt the need to f with it. It does vibrate loudly at certian tork levels.
I hose clamped it wich helped greatly for a while , but i think it needs a retightening. The rolled tips look great, definitly not factory. I get people comming up to me to say it looks sweet.

Now the SC. I don't have it yet. I have bought the m90 roots type. I am soooooo syked. I am getting it from Explorer Express. They have almost a hundred kits out there on Rangers. They claim 74hp on that kit. This kit should do better, as it's a HiPo version for the 4.0L stang.
I am putting the Coolingmist water injection coolingon it.
I hope to get 300 to 325hp. We shall see.

I went roots type since I'm not a drag racer, just a little road rage.
The roots type will allways have boost. A vortech, paxton or procharger dosesn't kick until 3k. These are mostly Top end, but I'm not trying to go 150 mph. I live in an area with 5 overlapping police departments. I just want the neck snap. I also don't want to hear the scream of one of those. They do SCREAM. The roots type is supposed to Growl, and should make the exhaust sound even better as well. We are talking about 7 t 10 psi of boost.
I'm having it installed over the 4th of July. I will update the thread after I get back.

Sonic Blue Peal V6
Steeda CAI, MMR Throttle body spacer(looks cool)
JBA headers, and true duals w/ GT take off rear bumper
JBA plug wires
SCT tune for 93 oct and CAI from Steeda
Nasty looking blue mirriored fade tint...Sharp looking
I'll post a pic once the new rims come in.
Damn this is fun.

Whatcha think?

From the www.aeroexhaust.com website:

Q: Are Aero Exhaust mufflers Legal? A: YES, all of our mufflers are legal in all 50 states. It should be noted, however, that when used in conjunction with other products (such as air intake systems or exhaust headers), the overall combined effect might cause some vehicles to exceed allowable sound limits. Please consult your State or local vehicle code for specific use information.

Now... as far as emissions, mufflers really don't do anything for emmisions... that woudl be the cats job...

I have a complete Gt take off exhaust. It sounds no different than the stock V6 single legger. Thats just what I was looking for ans Im very happy with it.

My GT h-pipe had been cut off the car right behind the cats, its a 2.5in dia pipe, when I had my V6 pipe cut in the same place we found that it was a 2.25in pipe. The GT pipe slipped right over the V6 pipe. Welded it up and it looks oem. The rest of the exhaust bolted up with no problems.

Lizardking, where did you get the GT takeoff exhaust? That's what I want to do but I haven't found anywhere that cuts it off behind the cats. I was thinking of buying an x-pipe for the GT and cutting that. That will mate up between the cats and the GT left pipe/ V6 right pipe.

nothing better than going true dual with an intake and tuner plus a SC if you want later on if you are that power crazy. I like the Ford racing exhaust note just fine and I heard its made by borla. i also have an SB intake system with no tune yet. And I tell you the car does move and a big difference from stock and this is with no tune yet. imagine if I tune my puppy up, WOW. Just do you reaserch and fix your budget as that is the most important. on the SC side, you will only have to worry about warranty iisues and upgrading other compnents to your car such as fuel injectors and such...
