Default Ford Racing Exhaust vs. Borla Exhaust (for V6)

is there any difference in these two besides the cost? the Borla Exhaust for V6, and the Ford Racing Exhaust for the V6 (Single Exhausts) is the ford racing one really just a borla without it saying borla...in other words, are you just paying for the Borla name?

any help would be great.

Default Mustang Cobra with borlas

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Ford used Borla for some of their cobras for the 94 98 body style. I don't know if Ford said that they were borla. Pretty sure Ford used borla, so my guess is that they could be very similar. Best bet is to get pictures of both mufflers and compare them visually. Good Luck.

i believe they are the same muffler. i have the ford racing one. it has the cool ford racing logo on the tip, borla does not.

how's the sound on it, much louder than the stock exhaust? i'm looking for the low bass-y growl. as far as i can find out is that they are the same thing, just the borla one is about 110$ more. and if that's the only difference than, i'll save the 100$+. What i'm trying to find out is whether or not there is a big sound difference?

There is a big difference in the sound compared to stock. I would save the money and get the Ford Racing one. I think there was a thread on here that someone posted some video clips of his Ford Racing muffler. It is deeper and I am pleased with it... it won't sound like a V8, if that is what you are looking for however.

I too have the FRPP muffler system made by Borla for Ford. It is much louder that the stock but not overbearing. I've gotten nothing but compliments with the axle back unit. It has the FORD logo embossed on the tips which are chrome. I think the ones not sold as a FRPP are chrome on the actual muffler itself and embossed with BORLA on the muffler, although they both have the same warranty.

Here is one thread where they posted wav files of the Ford Racing muffler. It seems like the links to his pics don't work, but the audio files are there.

thank you, i've heard this one, but it's not the best quality, i don't know why they took the audio while the recorder was in the trunk.

hey thanks for the post of the vid clips. those are excellent. i think i'll go with the ford racing, sounds good, but not too loud.

of course i am comparing them online with clips that don't really have the best of quality. i am comparing this to the MRT, and the MRT seems ALOT louder.

The ford racing exhaust is alot cheaper than the borla exhaust. I got my FR exhaust for $187 shipped vs: borla being over $200

Warranty is different. Branding on the tips is different. and I haven't compared them yet but I think they might have a slightly different angle on the slash cut tip.

I'm a newbie so my first question is does replacing the exhaust void the warranty (other than those parts not being covered). It was the hell of constant uncovered repairs that finally led me to buy my Mustang .

And second where did you order from, the prices I'm getting are about $100 more? I did find a JBA for that price.

Warrenty will be void on the muffler or part you replace. If that part makes something else fail then its not covered but they have to prove that the aftermarket part made what ever fail.
