Dash disassemble I replaced my factory radio with an alpine that has that jack for ipod/XM/sirius in the back. The ipod works great with it. But just to warn you, when you plug in the XM to it and you have your XM radio plugged into the cig lighter outlet, you will get feedback (a buzzzzzzzing sound). But you will not get this sound with the ipod since it has its own internal battery. With that said, since I ordered my alpine from crutchfield, it came with complete and DETAILED instructions for my specific car. Basically here are the steps (from memory): (1) Remove those plastic runners on the left and right side of the radio (they basically just pop out). (2) Pull up your e-brake as far as you can get it, but be carefull not to pull it up too hard/quick, just ease it up as far as it will go. (3) Open the arm rest compartment and remove the bolt in the bottom. (4) Pull the center console (the part that includes the armrest, shifter border, etc...) up starting from the back and pull it toward the radio. The hardest part of this whole thing will be getting it off the E-brake. I had to wrestle it around for a good 5 minutes to get it off without getting angry and breaking stuff. (5) Since you took the plastic runners on the sides of the radio off, the bolts that hold the radio in should now be exposed, remove them and the radio should slide right out. Remember, these instructions are from memory so I may have missed a bolt here or there or may have mixed up the order a little, but this is basically it. It's not hard at all, the hardest part is just getting that damn center console housing up off the e-brake lever. Now that I have done it before, I could go through the whole process in 5 minutes flat. If these instructions are no good enough, you might see if you can download the instructions from crutchfield. Hope this helps. |
