Default Fitting of a V6 Rear Bumper...

I googled "rear bumper" and went through the first five pages and didn't notice anything, so I thought I'd ask now.

Okay, I was out today washing my Mustang and when I was drying the rear off, I noticed there's a small but very noticable gap in the rear on the passenger side rear when it doesn't sit flush with the body. Enough so, that one can easily slide a nickel (widith wise) through it. Car hasn't been hit or anything (brand new), so I went to the dealership where I got it from last night to see if it was just my car, or others. Of the 10 Mustangs they have on the lot, about 3 of them have the same problem my car does, either the left or right side sits flush with the car and the other side has a very noticeable gap.

If I take it back to the dealership tomorrow, do you think they would be able to reallign my bumper so that it's sitting flush or should I just let it go since it most likely came from the factory that way. It's just a little bit of an eyesore when the driver side sits flush and the passenger space has a very noticeable black space in the rear from where it's not flush.

If it bugs you let them fix it. After all, you're still under warranty, and things like this are what the warranty is for.

I had the same issue, just with not such a sizeable gap. I took it to the Glendale dealer, Star Ford and they said that that was normal and there was nothing they could do about it. Then we took it to the Ford dealer in Alhambra, Wondries Ford and they got me a new bumper. It still doesn't sit perfectly but is a bit better. Let me know how things work out with you.

I had a similar issue... Dealership said they would fix it, but they would have to take to a body shop to have them do it...

It wasn't that big of a deal to me... and at the time I didn't want to send the car out to a body shop... so that someone could do some hot roding in my car.

Well ordinarily I wouldn't mind it, but when I look at the gap and i can see what I think is black crushguard (material looks black, almost styrofoam like...like one of those square fingernail polishers) I think it's a problem...especially if complications from moisture (rain, and we've been getting a lot of it lately) could happen in the future. I'm going to go to the dealership (where I purchased the car) Monday morning to talk to them. if they aren't open, I'll come back Tuesday.

Just to update, I took the car to the Ford dealership (where I purchased the car) bodyshop on Tuesday and they realligned the rear bumper with no problem. So for now, everything looks 100 times better than it did previously.
