Default Hissing and dripping sound

Hey all,

I've got a 2006 v6 automatic mustang and on occasion I have noticed that when I am driving usually on a highway or somewhere that I go 45mph or faster I sometimes here a hissing sound. it seems as though it is coming from the engine and does not happen all the time. When I was thinking of what I could compare it to I thought it sounded similiar to the sound a heating system in a car might make on a low setting.

I also notice on occasion that on the right passenger side about where the wheel base is that it sounds as though something is dripping. When I go to look and see if something is dripping I don't notice anything. I noticed both these things today (not for the first time) and didn't have the A/C or heat on.

my car is only about three months old and I was wondering if these were things I should be concerned with or not. I searched around and could not find this same situation.

Thanks for any help or advice you could give me.

Not sure what it might be, but since your car is so new there is no reason not to get it looked at under warranty.

Have it checked for an exhaust leak at the manifold. You may have a stripped (or missing) exhaust stud. As for the leak sound... Not sure. There's nothing on the ground?

Yeah there is nothing on the ground. it just sounds like something is dripping but I can't find any evidence of something dripping other than the sound.

Both the hissing and dripping happen very randomly. I can go days without hearing either the hissing or dripping. Then one day I'll hear the hissing noise or something. I might just hear the noise one time I drive it in a day too. the next time I go to drive that day I wont hear it. Its very random.

Do you think the hissing and dripping could be related?

I dont want to take it into the dealer and them just shrug it off because either noise doesnt happen when I bring it in.

Thanks for the replies!

Whe you hear this sound, are your running the A/C? If so, cound be the condensation hitting something hot. Try running the car without the A/C and see if it is happening, if not then try with it on.

Also might want to check to ensure you radator cap is on correctly.
