Default SCT Software downloads

I just got an Xcal2 about a week ago. I went to SCT Flash Devices - MORE Power . . . Period! and noticed the downloads and drivers section under the support link at the top of the page. My question is: Should I use any of these downloads/drivers? I noticed the data logger program but I don't think I will have much use for that. But what about the other ones? Thanks

Liveload 3 - if you ever plan to upload new tunes to the device (you're tuner would need to provide tune files in .ll3 format)
Livelink - for datalogging
Liveupdate2 - if you ever need to update the firmware on the handhelp (since it's new, it'll be up to date)
You'll also need to download and install the SCT drivers on your computer so it can see the xcal2.

You don't need any of the others, except maybe xtremetune if you ever run accross a tune file in a .xtr format

Default Re: SCT Software

Thanks again! I have not even installed the software disc that came with the programmer yet. So I guess I'll play around with some of that this weekend. I switched to a mac computer within the last year and I hate to go back to a Win-duhs computer for much of anything. That's the only downside to the mac...most 3rd party programs are written for PCs.

My xcal didn't come with any disks/CDs. It may just contain the drivers and downloads.

I have a question about my SCT. What happens if the tuner breaks, gets lost ,crushed, wet or anything else that would render it useless. What then?
Also does it make sense to periodicaly go plug it in and reset factory stting and then reload the tune? Mine is running so well I hate to f--- with it. Thanks

Well, you'd need a new one for starters. And you'd also have to recover the factory tune corresponding to your PCM code. SCT tuners all have the stock tune. Your tuner could reconfigure a new device for you.

There is some debate on whether or not to periodically reflash. Sort of like rebooting your computer from time to time. Not sure if it helps or not.
