Hey guys, I just got an idea that I'm sure everyone else has, and I'm sure some have done it.
Has anyone painted their black rocker panels? I know on our V6's they are unpainted unlike with the GT's which are painted the color of the car. I was thinking that it could make the car look a bit beefier.
I was also thinking to get some Cervini Side scoops and maybe a CDC Chin Spoiler to finish off the look, but with these things, I thought that having the rocker panels painted might complete the look.
Any thoughts?

I purchased a set of GT take off rockers that were already my body color. There are a lot of sites that sell them for around $100 give or take. I thought about having my stock ones painted and my local body shop guy said he'd do it for $130. Turns out the take offs were cheaper and I got to keep my stock ones in case I ever want to change back.

The stock ones are also not smooth (you'll see a pebble texture if you look up close). It's a lot simpler and cheaper to go the GT takeoff route to do this.
I actually went the other way. I painted my rocker panels black to slim down the car.
They're easy to take off, and would probably cost less to just take them down to the local body shop, let them paint them and re-install them yourself. It's just a couple of screws and some christmas tree pins. Here's a .pdf from the repair manual.

Well, I just got a set of them from Newtakeoff.com. I got them in 2 days with standard shipping, and the product looks great so I can safely say I would recommend them to anyone.
Anyways, I'm looking at the rocker panel removal document above and I'm trying to figure out what, if any, tools I need? I haven't looked under the car yet, but is there a special tool I need or do the pins just need a little rough love to come off?

Ok, I got all the pins that run on the bottom and the 2 pins on the front, but i cant figure out how to get to the little pins on the inside....any tips? I'm really at wits end here.

You need a fork tool to remove the retainers. If they're damaged upon removal, you should replace them.
Alright, thanks man. I got one of those fork tools so I'll just work it up there. I got a few extras of those clips, though I may buy more. I bought all new clips for the front of the part and the bottom so hopefully I won't need anything else.
Thanks again. I'll post some pics when I'm all done with it.

Be careful with these guys. I ordered my GT take-off mufflers from them 2 weeks ago (to the day) and haven't seen or heard anything since. Sent 3 e-mails with no response and still waiting. I'm hoping that Cascotech will come through like you guys keep saying and the mufflers will show up at my door any day now.
