Default Unusual Noise on 05 V6 with Demolet SCT&CAI

Ok. Lately I have been noticing a weird noise that starts right when i start my car. It sounds like a fan motor and if I step on the gas, it will speed up/get higher in pitch. It sounds like it's coming from behind the center of my dash. I have tried turning all the climate controls completely off to make sure it was not the cabin heating/cooling fan. But the noise was still there when I made sure all the climate controls were off. The noise seems to go away after about 2 minutes of driving as well. Also, I have been noticing that my car does not always start the first time. The weather has been cold where I am, but I don't remember the car stuttering at startup near this much (or ever) last winter. Not sure if one thing has to do with the other or not. Also, all of this seems to have started happening since I got my SCT tuner. I have loaded the 87 tune and the 93. I just recently switched back to the 93 tune (I was getting horrible gas mileage with the 87). And I STOPPED pulling the recommended fuses before the tuning process. I am thinking that maybe these fuses DO in fact need to be pulled. Can anyone provide any input about this noise based on the info I provided? The ignition stutter I am not all that worried about because it really only seems to happen when it is really cold and I am starting the car for the first time for the day. But that noise concerns me. (once again, it is a buzzing/whirling sound, kinda like what a remote control car sounds like. It stays steady until I push on the gas and then the pitch gets higher as if the speed of whatever it is is directly linked to my pushing the gas pedal). Thanks!

I'm not sure what the sound is you're hearing unless it's just from the cold. It's not the cooling fan? Did your tuner adjust the cooling fan temperatures in the tune?

As for pulling the fuses, that's really only a precaution if you suspect charging issues. It's just because it's bad to have your battery die during a tune upload. I never bother pulling the fuses and I've flashed my car a good 80-90 times.

Default Re: cooling fan parameters

I don't think my tune adjusted the cooling fan. I certainly did not do it. Whether or not it was changed within the idividual tune itself I don't know. I would think then that the noise would remain, but it goes away after a few minutes. It may be just the cold since it goes away after the car warms up a little. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

My car makes all kinds of sounds in Winter that I don't notice when it's warm

10-4 LOL!! It's supposed to get up to 59 this week, so I'll se what it does then. At least it does go away quickly, if the noise stayed the whole time I drove then I would be more worried.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much. Heck, it's a Ford--they're supposed to make noises

hey one question is your car a manual? if the answer is yes, id put my money with it being in the trans. mine does it and i was told its the normal sound of what they call gear tumble or something like that. anyways, same thing gets quieter when it warms up and goes completely away when you push in the clutch.

Default RE: is it manual

No it's an automatic. Didn't notice it today when I started the car.
