It's definitely a V6. He's a regular on another board I hang out at. He just has GT panels on it. He also lost his gas tank (torn open when the driveshaft came apart)

That is so bad....

I am definitely getting a DS loop now. The pair really, I guess, right? One front, one rear? Cheap mental reassurance. Like the skid plate protecting the transfer case, on my truck.

Where was the explosion??

Notice the guy on the other side of the car standing there while the guy shooting the video dodges pieces-parts. Did anyone take a needle bearing to the shin or anything?

Would an aluminum driveshaft prevent that from happening?

Yes it would have probably prevented or at least minimized the likelihood of it happening.
